Wayne H. Mormann

Wayne H. Mormann, 72, of Waverly, Iowa and formerly of Dyersville passed away Monday, October 29, 2018, at Waverly Health Center in Waverly.

Visitation will be held 2 – 7 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville. Visitation will continue Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9:30 – 10:30 am at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018, St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate.

Wayne was born June 11, 1946, in Dyersville the son of Henry and Viola (Kern) Mormann. He graduated from Xavier High School with the Class of 1964. He married Janet E. Kelly on June 12, 1971 in Worthington.

After high school, he was employed at Modernfold in the engineering department, and at the Ertl Company where he designed many new toys. Wayne was a talented craftsman who dreamed of owning his own business. He opened Woodcraft Cabinetry, specializing in residential and commercial cabinets, and Mormann Custom Products, where his unique displays were showcased in New York City at the National Toy Show for 14 years. He was an office manager for VanGuard Countertops and All Systems in Dubuque for 20 years before retiring.

Wayne enjoyed landscaping and playing with his beloved grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Janet, 2 daughters: Jill (Jason) Groth of Waverly and Susan (Mike) Sanderson of Madison, WI; 2 grandchildren, Megan and Madeline Groth; siblings: Joyce Becker and Dale Mormann, both of Dyersville, Kathy (Bill) Squire of Dubuque, Jean (Dave) Burggren of Asbury and Ronald (Brenda) Mormann of Clear Lake, in-laws: Nancy (Mike) Ouverson of Worthington, Debra (Gary Strassburger) Kelly of Davenport, and Dawn (Dave) Schiel of Johnson Creek, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, Urban and Mary Kelly, a sister, JoAnne Reynolds, a nephew, Josh Reynolds, and in-laws: Jack Becker, Steve Kelly and Ronald Kelly.
