William D. Fluor Sr.
William Donald Fluor Sr., 87,of Escondido, CA, formerly of Dubuque, passed away on February 4, 2019. Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego.
Bill was born in Dubuque, son of William and Caroline (Peil) Fluor. He married Marlene Strampp on December 15, 1952. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School, attended Kimball Music Conservatory, Chicago, and graduated from San Diego State University. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Bill was employed by General Dynamics, Solar, and SD Gas and Electric, San Diego, and Pepsi Cola, Dubuque. He was a musician, painter, and piano teacher. Our dad was a wonderful provider and sacrificed much for his family.
He enjoyed gathering with family and friends, playing piano, cooking, gardening, interior decorating (especially during holidays), creating art, and family outings after church. We are especially thankful for our Christian upbringing and know we will be reunited in Heaven.
Bill is survived by his children, Roseanne Prytherch, of San Bernardino, CA, Elizabeth Green, of Crescent City, CA, and William Fluor Jr., of Lakeside, CA; his grandchildren, Nicholas Prytherch, Chistopher Prytherch, and Chelsea Prytherch, Brian Green, Lauren Green Cho, Kirsten Green, and Jessica Fluor; his great-grandchildren, Jordan and Charlotte Prytherch, Daniel, Samuel, Sophia Green, and Hudson Pierik.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Marlene Fluor and his parents William and Caroline Fluor.
