Allan “Pup” Kearney, 80, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on September 19, 2024, with his wife Vickie and dog Misty by his side.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday September 26, 2024, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday September 27, 2024, at the funeral home. Private family entombment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Allan was born on July 26, 1944, in Cascade, Iowa, son of Donald J. and Marian (Knepper) Kearney, and the eldest of thirteen. He married the love of his life Vickie Wiezorek on June 25, 1983, in Dubuque. Allan and Vickie loved to be together, gardening, camping, traveling, working together on many projects and just being together. He enjoyed family visits and always had a story to tell.

Allan was employed with AG Trucking for 25 years as the Maintenance Manager, retiring in 2008. After a short retirement Allan then worked at Stonehill Care Center in the maintenance department for 9 years. Allan was proud to say he always had a job and was proud to be a self -taught Diesel Mechanic whether it was in the trucking, logging, excavating/construction industries or even well drilling.

Allan is survived by his wife Vickie of 41 years, “the kids” Bob (Brenda) Kearney of Lebanon, IN, Theresa (Dan) Kass, Lisa Kearney, Roger Kearney, Stacey (Kenny) Schrader, and Jessica (Aaron Weipert) Ehlers, all of Dubuque, grandchildren and great grandchildren Roger (Chrissy) & Ethan, Emma; Randy (Emily) & Madison, Ryder; Everett (Kim) & Wesley; Cameron (Kelsey) & Dani; Marisa, Alexis; Lauren (Gavin) Dostal, Meredith (Brandon Mangers); Cole, Dylan (Morgan Miller); Mark (Emma) & Lincoln, Bridget (Shawn O’Brien), Meadow, Miles, and Rogue. He is also survived by his siblings Linda Gernes, of Des Moines, Jan Wheeler, of Dubuque, Colleen Kirkwood and Donna Beaman, both of Des Moines, Sheila Pillard, of Dubuque, Sherri (Rick) Treanor, of Dubuque, Kevin (Lisa) Kearney, of Overland Park, KS, Joyce (Chuck) Pastene, of Rock Hill, SC, Joe Kearney, of Dubuque, Terry (Angie) Kearney, of Hudson, WI and Jeff (Karla) Kearney, of Andover, MN, brother-in- law Pat Willenbring, of Dubuque. Mother-in-law Marion Wiezorek, of Dubuque; sister-in-law Deanna Wiezorek, of Dubuque; his dog Misty; and many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Marian Kearney, son Rick Kearney, grandson Taylor, sister Mary Beth Willenbring, brothers-in-law Fred Gernes, Joe Pillard and Paul Wiezorek Jr, and father-in-law Paul Wiezorek Sr.
