Allen R. Campbell
Allen R. Campbell, 72, of Dubuque, formerly of Maquoketa, Iowa, lost his battle with cancer on Tursday, October 12, 2023. Allen passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and beloved Katherine at Ennoble Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dubuque.
Allen Ray Campbell was born on April 1, 1951 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Lester Earl and Esther Shirley (Hanson) Campbell. He was a 1969 graduate of Maquoketa High School. His hardworking nature was evident in his versatility in employment throughout his lifetime. Ranging from working at Caterpillar to driving trucks to cooking as a chef and working for MSI Paving Company.
More than just his work, Allen was a man of spirited hobbies. His love for collecting coins was surpassed only by his passion for the outdoors. Whether it was fishing trips or hunting outings, the experiences he shared with his sons were cherished.
Those left to honor his memory include his children, Shannon (Chad) Veach of Maquoketa, IA, Karri (Jason) Frank of Blue Grass, IA, and Matthew Yarolem of Maquoketa, IA; 6 grandchildren, Ella, Avery, Lilee, Sydney, Caelyn, and Hadley; and brothers, John (Sherry) Campbell of Maquoketa, IA, and Bill (DeeGee) Campbell of Carrizozo, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son Zachary Allen Campbell.
Friends and family may gather to celebrate Allen’s life with a memorial luncheon/reception beginning at 4 P.M. on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2023, at the Eagles Club in Maquoketa. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family burial will be held at the Sutton Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, at a later date.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, an Allen R. Campbell memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to extend special gratitude towards the fine staff at Ennoble Manor Care and Hospice of Dubuque.
