Aloysius L. “Fritz” Loewen, 93, of Dubuque, IA, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2026, peacefully at his home.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. A private burial for Fritz and his wife Bunny will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque, IA.

Fritz was born November 13, 1932, in Dubuque IA, the son of Al and Lena (Schubert) Loewen. He attended school at St. Columbkille’s and graduated in 1950. After graduation Fritz went on to serve his country in the United States Army. He married Sharon “Bunny” on June 29, 1957. She preceded him in death on May 25, 2025.

He retired from the Dubuque Packing company after 30 years. When FDL opened, he returned to the packing company working as a USDA government inspector for many years until FDL closed. He went on to work for Peoples Natural Gas and the Dubuque Golf and Country Club.

Fritz is survived by his daughter, Lori (Randy) Childers; grandchildren: Lindsay (Jake) Majerus, and Adam (Ashley) Childers; great grandchildren: Landon, and Reese Majerus, Aiden, and Autumn Childers; sister in-law Karen Nickolas; and nephew Arnie Nickolas.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Bunny; parents, Al and Lena Loewen; brother’s, Carl (Anna Mae) Loewen, Maury (Shirley) Loewen and Clarence (Elaine) Loewen; sister, Mary (Don) Hocking; brother-in-law Arnold Nickolas.
