Amy L. Bainbridge

Amy Lynn Bainbridge, 52, of Galena, IL, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, at Midwest Medical Center, Galena after a long battle with ALS.  A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, where friends may gather from 10 AM until the time of service.

She was born October 28, 1971, in Burlington, IA, the daughter of Steve and Jeannette (Stickfort) Mullahy.  Amy graduated from Mediapolis High School with the class of 1990.  She attended Southeastern Community College, earning a Medical Assistant degree followed by her LPN degree in 1995.  Amy then attended Iowa Wesleyan College, Mt. Pleasant, IA, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 1997.  She was united in marriage to Mark P. Bainbridge on August 24, 2002, in Burlington.  Amy worked at Klein Center as an LPN, Burlington Medical Center as a surgical nurse, Finley Hospital as a recovery room nurse, and finally MVA as the office manager.  She loved her family, watching her children play sports, traveling, the outdoors, and her dogs.

Amy is survived by her husband, Mark; three children, Peyton, Caden, and Alicen; stepchildren, Luke, Jacob (Ashlee), Chloe, and Lily Bainbridge; four grandchildren, Bodhi, Nirvana, Gabriel Bainbridge, and Maple Frommelt; her parents, Steve and Jeannette Mullahy, of Burlington, sister, Sara Horn, of  Palm Harbor, FL, niece, Alivia Horn, of Tampa, FL, aunts, uncles, and cousins, her exceptional friends, Dena Palmer, Rachel Moehle, Nanette Glasgow, and the PACU Gals.  She truly treasured every visit from these most special friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, James and Alice Mullahy of Burlington, and her maternal grandmother, Lucille Stickfort, of Independence, IA, and two cousins, Jon Freesmeier and Jeffrey Dillon.

The burial will be held at a later date.  Cremation rites have been accorded.
