Andy Daughetee

Andy Daughetee, 51, of Dubuque, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 21, 2024, surrounded by his family after a three-year journey with brain cancer.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Andy will be 10:30 am Monday, March 25, 2024, at Holy Spirit Parish – Holy Ghost Catholic Church with Father Jeff Frieden as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque.

Andy was born in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Larry and Jane (Gartner) Daughetee.  He attended Holy Ghost, Wahlert, and received his bachelor’s degree from Clarke College, Dubuque.

Andy married his high school sweetheart, Jenny Nauman on September 9, 1995, in Dubuque. Together, they had two incredible daughters, and built a beautiful life surrounded by family.

Andy worked as Controller at Hodge Company, where the people were like a second family to him.  He was the first recipient of the Hodge Company Ding Bell Service & Loyalty Award and retired after 31 years of service.  He was a lifelong member of Holy Spirit Parish-Holy Ghost where he served as an usher for several years.

Andy had a love of sports and was an exceptional golfer.  You never had to look further than a local golf course to find him.  He also cheered loyally for the Hawkeyes, the Bears, the Cubs, and any team his daughters played for, win or lose.

Andy was easy to love.  Being with Andy meant you would both be laughing; his giggle was contagious & his eyes twinkled with every teasing remark.  He never failed to give a big smile and told us every day how much he loved us and appreciated us.  He taught us to face adversity with grace, courage, positivity, and a sense of humor.

His legacy lives on with his wife, Jenny, daughters Erin & Emma of Dubuque, father Larry of Dubuque, two sisters, Tina (Kevin) Knudtson of Juda, WI and Tammy (Chuck) Freisinger of Dubuque.  He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Marge Nauman, in-laws Terry (Linda) Nauman, Pat (Scott) Cawiezell, Connie (Terry Truex) Kennedy, Jeff (Melissa) Nauman, Dave (Lucy) Nauman, Randy (Kris) Nauman, and Tom (Heidi) Nauman, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  He will be missed by his mini-dachshunds Cooper & Winston.

Andy was preceded in death by his mother Jane Daughetee, his father-in-law, Herman (Boots) Nauman, and his puppy, Wrigley.

The family extends our appreciation to Grand River Medical Group and the University of Iowa Hospital for the expert medical care that Andy received on this journey. You helped give us more quality time with Andy. We also want to thank Hospice of Dubuque, especially Buffy & Ryan for their compassion, care and support.  Special thanks to Andy’s dad Larry, sister Tammy, and amazing friend Osty for being right there with Andy every step of the way.

To honor Andy’s memory, the Daughetee Family fund has been set up at the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque. This fund will help with brain cancer research and provide support for families braving this journey.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to this fund.
