Barbara Jo Clapham, 78, of Dubuque, died Friday, August 7, 2026, at Sunnycrest Manor in Dubuque.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm Thursday, August 13, 2026 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.

The Funeral Service for Barbara will be 1:30 pm Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Dubuque Memorial Gardens.  A celebration of her life will be at a later date.

Barbara was born July 29, 1948, in Dubuque, the daughter of George S. and Faith E. Bigley Clapham.

She graduated from Western Dubuque High School.   She worked at Hoffmann Enterprises and later lived at Area Residential Care. She also generously volunteered with Meals on Wheels, finding joy in helping others, and enjoyed traveling and experiencing new places.

She had a beautiful love of music and singing and seemed to know every word to nearly every hymn in the hymnal. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she found great comfort and joy in attending church and being part of her faith community. She also enjoyed coloring and, perhaps most of all, the simple joy of fellowship and time spent with others.

She especially treasured the caring community she found at Sunnycrest, where she formed many lasting friendships and became a beloved part of the community. Sunnycrest was more than a place she lived-it was a place where she felt truly at home, surrounded by friends, kindness, laughter, and people who cared deeply for her. Her faith, gentle spirit, love of music, and genuine appreciation for others will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include nephew, Robert (Jean) Oberfoell of Ashton, SD, niece, Kathleen Mahaffey of Grand Rapids, MN, niece, Beverly (Vance) Haight of Grand Marsh, WI, niece, Kristi (Dean) Jacobs of Grand Rapids, MN, cousin, Rose Nolan of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
