Mark J. Schroeder
Mark Joseph Schroeder, age 64, of Indianola, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in Indianola. To celebrate Mark’s life, family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, Dubuque, Iowa. Funeral services will be held immediately following visitation at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday at the funeral home with Deacon Bill Biver officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Mark was born on May 25, 1962, in Dubuque, Iowa. He was the middle child of LeRoy Joseph Schroeder and Janice Ruth (Sartor) Schroeder.
He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and then attended Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, Iowa. He graduated with a degree in Powerline Technology. Mark then moved to Manchester, New Hampshire doing powerline installation and later electrical sign installation. He then returned to Dubuque for a time doing sign installation. Following this, Mark moved to the Ames / Des Moines, Iowa area and worked for Superior Light and Sign Company as well as Eagle Sign and Advertising Company. Mark then worked at Fawn Engineering Company as a welder and ended his career as Power Plant Engineer 2 at the Iowa Department for the Blind in Des Moines.
In his free time, Mark enjoyed listening to rock music and working on electronics. He was a lifelong dog lover. He shared many family vacations and especially enjoyed his time spent with his nephew, Daniel. His role of Uncle, was his most cherished.

and many cousins.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 aunts, Elaine (William) O’Neill, Nona (James) Nigg and Mary Jean (Ralph) Cigrand.
The family would like to thank Windsor Manor, Indianola, IA and The Village in Indianola for their care of Mark. We would also like to thank family and friends for all of their prayers, love and concern for Mark.
