Betty Geerts, age 78, of Galena, IL, formerly of Hanover, IL, completed her earthly journey on August 14, 2026, at the Galena Senior Care Center while surrounded by her loving family.  To honor Betty’s life, a private family service is being held.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Betty’s family.

Betty was born on December 8, 1947, in Sterling, IL, a daughter to Harry and Ida (Letcher) Geerts.  She was a kind and gentle soul who spent her life loving those she cared for with a sincere heart and always protecting them from the broken world around them when necessary as well.  Betty invested over 30 years of her working career with Eagle Ridge in the Galena Territories primarily in the housekeeping department.  She spent many years working in housekeeping directly, but eventually made her way into the purchasing and management side of the department before finally moving into retirement.

In her free time, Betty never passed up the opportunity to work on the latest crossword that came across her path, or if time allowed, grabbing her latest cross stitch project and putting in the time required to complete her vision.  In her younger years, Betty always enjoyed getting out and doing a little dancing with family and friends whenever possible, but truth be told, her heart was always at home with her family.  Her grandsons were her life’s passion and she never took lightly her responsibility as a grandma and continually strived to be the best one she could be.

We are going to miss Betty, her outgoing spirit and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind now.  She has watched her last Patrick Swayze film and Chuck Norris program in this life and now joins her family who have been called home ahead of her in their eternal reunion.  We pray for peace and comfort in our broken hearts moving forward and thankfully find peace in knowing that we will see Betty once again once our time in this life is completed as well.  Thank you, Betty for all of the love, light and laughter along the way and may the Lord keep and bless you until we meet again.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Earl Geerts, Mary Geerts and Katherine Geerts.
