Brian D. Howard, 54, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

According to his wishes, no public services will be held. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is assisting the family.

Brian was born on April 12, 1972, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of James “Mike” and Vicki (McCullough) Howard. He graduated from Kings High School in Kings Mill, Ohio. He was united in marriage to Laura Remakel, and together they had a daughter, Brianna Howard. Although he and Laura separated, they remained friends. Brian worked for various businesses in California, Virginia, and in Dubuque.

Brian was a devoted Chicago Bears and Blackhawks fan. He was a jack of all trades. He had a love for music and enjoyed good food, especially a favorite slice of pizza.

Brian is survived by his daughter, Brianna; father, James “Mike” Howard of Dubuque; mother, Vicki (Michael) Emmons of Ohio; uncle, Kevin (Sandy) Howard of Nevada; aunt, Patty Bennett of Wisconsin; aunt-in-law, Peggy Howard of Dubuque; special family friend, Barb Pauley; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his uncle, Steve Howard; and his uncle-in-law John Bennett.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque for their care of Brian. Memorials may be given in Brian’s memory to Hospice of Dubuque.
