Charles F. DeMaio
Charles F. DeMaio, 99, of Dubuque, passed away July 17, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family.
In keeping with his wishes, private family services were held.
Charles was born on December 9, 1926, to Patzy and Lulu (Smith) DeMaio in Dubuque, IA.
He was united in marriage to Erma (Bender) DeMaio in 1948 in Dubuque, IA.
Charles was a laborer for the Dubuque Pack for many years, until retirement in 1987.
He valiantly served our country in the United States Army during World War II.
Charles was a past member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was an active member of the Dubuque American Legion Post 6 up until this last year.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping at Lake Joy with family and friends. His most cherished memories were gatherings spent with this dear family for birthday celebrations, holidays, and everything in between.
Charles is survived by his children, Patricia Kearney of Dubuque, Robert (Tina) DeMaio of Dubuque, Richard (Barb) DeMaio of Dubuque, Charles “Terry” (Laura) DeMaio of Dubuque, and Debbie (Robert) Reisen of Dubuque. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Bruce DeMaio, and Michael DeMaio; brothers, Tony and Carl DeMaio; two sisters, Clara Courtney and Bea Doughtery.
Charles’ family wishes to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Dubuque, especially Amanda and Angela.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque.
