Chloe E. Scholtes
Chloe Elizabeth Scholtes, 23, of Bellevue, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, from injuries sustained in a UTV accident.
A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Hachmann-Mier Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue.
Chloe was born on September 16, 2002, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Shannon Small and Mark Scholtes. She would soon find her forever home and become the daughter of Kevin and Julie Scholtes through adoption.
Chloe had recently completed her GED and was close to completing her CNA certification, accomplishments that reflected her determination and the bright future she was working toward. She was excited to begin a new chapter in her life and start a career at Hawkeye Care Center.
Chloe was truly a free spirit—adventurous, fearless, and always authentically herself. She loved all things outdoors and was always ready for her next adventure. She never backed down from a challenge and was never afraid to speak her mind. You always knew where you stood with Chloe, and that honesty was simply part of who she was.
She was full of life and laughter, with a personality that was hard to forget. Chloe had a large circle of friends and formed many special friendships throughout her life. She loved fiercely and wholeheartedly, whether you were family or a friend. Those fortunate enough to be loved by Chloe knew just how deeply she cared.
Above all, Chloe was an amazing and devoted mother to her boys, Weston and Walker. They were the center of her world, and her love for them was immeasurable. She treasured the adventures, laughter, and everyday moments they shared together. Being their mother brought her tremendous joy, and the love she gave them will forever be a part of their lives.
She is survived by her sons, Weston and Walker, and their father Dakota Stoffel; her parents, Kevin (Kristie Culver) Scholtes and Julie (Todd) Helmrichs; her siblings, Stephanie (Brian) Reuter, Mark Jr. (Katelyn) Scholtes, Tyler Scholtes (Emma Brewer), Brittany Scholtes, and Hailey Scholtes (Chris Prichard); her nieces and nephews, Norah, Charlee, Hank, Owen, Octavia, Ruby, Scott, Rylee, Aiden, Mason, Aubrey, and Bayley; her paternal grandmother, Shirley Price; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Chloe was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John and Dora McDowell; her biological grandmother, Penny Small, and her paternal grandparents, Roger “Shiney” and Shirley Scholtes, and Harold Price.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a fund established for Weston and Walker Stoffel, at Bellevue State Bank and Dupaco Community Credit Union.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at SSM Health Monroe and St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, as well as the dedicated EMS and emergency response crews of Green County EMS, South Wayne Fire Department, South Wayne First Responders, Browntown Fire Department, Warren Ambulance, and UW Med Flight, for the exceptional care, kindness, compassion, and support shown to Chloe and her family.
