Donald C. Kinsella

Donald C. Kinsella, 93, of Dubuque and formerly of Bernard, IA passed away on March 17, 2026, at Hawkeye Care.

A visitation for Donald will be from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd, Dubuque, with a service beginning at 1:30 p.m. with Deacon Daniel Kurt officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mount Olivet Cemetery with military honors accorded by the American Legion Post #6 and the Iowa Army National Guard.

Donald was born on August 7, 1932, in Bernard the son of Leo J. and Madeline C. (Smyth) Kinsella. He attended and graduated from North Garryowen High School. He served in the US Army as a Combat Engineer from February 10, 1954, until February 9, 1956, at Ft. Lewis in Seattle, WA. and was honorably discharged on January 31, 1962. One of his many fond memories while in the service, among others, was when he was able to meet John Wayne. After fulfilling his service, he returned home to work on the family farm.

Donald had a very sharp memory; he could recall many life events right to the day. He was a member of the Church of the Nativity.

He is survived by his brother Leo Jr. (Inez) Kinsella, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Madeline Kinsella; a sister, Etheleen (Dick) Driscoll; and two brothers, Joe (Norma) Kinsella and Dorrance (Dody) Kinsella.
