Donald J. Ewing

Donald J. Ewing, age 78, of Peosta, IA, passed away at 2:35 p.m., on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Harmony in Dubuque. In keeping with Don’s wishes, private family services were held. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, Dubuque is assisting his family.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Don was born on October 9, 1947, in North Buena Vista, IA., son of Ora (Radloff) and Henry B. Ewing.

He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School.  Don was a very proud supporter of our veterans and served in the US Army during VietNam.

His career at Flexsteel began following his military service and continued for over 44 years.

Don married Patricia Lynne Olson on April 4, 1970 in Waukon, Iowa.  Together they had 3 children.

He was a proud electrician and could fix about anything that needed attention.  For some reason, and no one really knows why, he was a die-hard Alabama Football fan.

Don’s health struggles are over and he is finally reunited with his wife Patricia.  He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren and his nieces and nephews.

Those left to cherish Don’s memory include his children and grandchildren, Douglas (Jayme) Ewing, and their children Bradley (Autumn Davis), Lexis, and Paige, Baxter, IA, Dawn (Matt) Stanek, Dubuque, IA, Jennifer (Luke) Wilkinson, Dubuque, IA; and several nieces and nephews, especially Roger Richard for all of the help and companionship over the years.

Don was preceded in death by a brother, John (Maymer) Ewing; and 2 sisters, Betty (CJ) Richard and Joanne Ewing.

Don’s family would like to thank the medical staffs of MercyOne, Mercy Hospital and Unity Point Finley Hospital in Dubuque as well as Above & Beyond Home Health and Hospice in Monticello, IA.

Cards and memorials in Don’s memory may be mailed to Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, Dubuque, Iowa 52001, Attn. Donald J. Ewing Family.
