Faud E. Deininger, age 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Midwest Senior Care in Galena, IL while listening to some of her favorite songs, including “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Surrounded by care and comfort, she took her final peaceful breath.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Furlong Funeral Chapel in Galena, where friends may call from 10 AM until the time of service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Galena.

Faud was born to Henry and Margaret Bierly and graduated from Hammond High School in Hammond, IN. On May 17, 1952, she married the love of her life, William Deininger, in Galena, and he preceded her in death on December 19, 2013. Faud devoted most of her life to being a stay-at-home mother until her children were grown. She was gentle, caring, patient, and genuinely kind. Her family was the center of her world, and she took great joy in creating special memories for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She made every holiday magical, filling her home with love, laughter, candy, and sweet treats. Faud loved to craft and decorate for every season, bringing beauty and warmth into her home throughout the year. She and William also treasured their time at their cabin in northern Wisconsin, where she especially enjoyed watching the deer and bears that wandered through their yard.

Faud is survived by her three sons, Jerry (Deb), Ronnie (LaVonne), and David; three daughters, Judy Bautsch, Sharon (Greg) Tranel, and Patti (Dan) Murphy; eight grandchildren, Matt (Lisa), Ryan (Leigh), Billy (Kristi) Tranel, Heather (Jeff) Vetter, Kara (Trevor) Colin, Cassie Gutzman (Lucas), Katie Murphy, and Rob Murphy; and eight great-grandchildren, Brianna, Braedon, Garrett, Riley, Whitney, Aaron, Kinley, and Reece. Although Faud did not have siblings of her own, she considered her in-laws to be her brothers and sisters. She is survived by Chuck (Nancy) Deininger and sisters-in-law Lola Deininger, Marilyn Flack, Rose Harkness, Alys Deininger, and her grandpups.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; grandson, Chad Bautsch; son-in-law, Daniel Bautsch; father and mother-in-law, Willis and Alma Deininger; sister-in-law, Carolyn Deininger; and brothers-in-law, Lester and Richard Deininger, Kenny Flack, and Bob Harkness.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Whalen, Dr. Vandigo and his nurse, Paula Redfearn; the staff at Midwest Senior Care; and Hospice of Dubuque Nurse Jessica and the hospice staff for the kindness, compassion, and care they provided to Faud and her family.

Faud’s greatest legacy will be the love she gave so freely to her family. Her gentle spirit, kindness, laughter, and the beautiful memories she created will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
