Gene J. Gerardy, 94, of Bellevue, Iowa, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, at MercyOne Medical Center in Dubuque.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, September 18, 2026 at Sts. Pete & Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook. Family will greet friends 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook, additional visitation will be 9:30 am until Mass on Friday at church.  Burial will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Springbrook with Military Honors conducted by the Bellevue American Legion Post #273.

Gene was born on March 22, 1932, the son of John and Evelyn (Junk) Gerardy. He served in The US Army during the Korean War.  He was united in marriage to Joan E. Reuter on November 17, 1954, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Preston, Iowa. Together, Gene and Joan built a loving family and shared more than 70 years of marriage.

Gene was a lifelong farmer and took great pride in his family, his work and the life he built in the Bellevue area. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family and the many people whose lives he touched throughout his 94 years.

Gene’s family was the center of his life, and his legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren and the many memories they created together. Gene will be deeply missed by his family and friends and lovingly remembered for generations to come.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Gerardy; his children, Vincent (Patti) Gerardy, Sharon (Deacon Greg) Michel, Cletus (Joy) Gerardy, Tom (Diana) Gerardy, Dennis (Elaine) Gerardy, Jim (Deb) Gerardy, Dave (Tere) Gerardy, Rich (Renee) Gerardy; and his 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; siblings and in-laws, Lorraine Ruff, Janice Jackson, Betty Michels, and Rosina Gerardy; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn Gerardy; his daughter, Mary Ann Gerardy; a grandson, Travis Gerardy; his siblings, Roger (Lois) Gerardy, John Gerardy, David Gerardy, Shirley (Gerald) Fuegen; and brothers in-law, Lloyd Ruff, Virgil Jackson, and Joseph Michels.

A memorial fund has been established in Gene’s memory.
