Jacquelyn A. “Jackie” Hess, 83, of Dubuque, IA, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2026, at UnityPoint Finley in Dubuque, IA.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Leonard Funeral Home, 2595 Rockdale Rd. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque, IA.

Jackie was born September 2, 1942, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Grace (Muntz) Sanders. She worked for Regency in Dubuque for many years, until her retirement.

Jackie will be remembered for her wonderful baking, especially her banana bread and cookies. She also enjoyed playing Euchre, feeding visiting animals, collecting dream catchers and wolf figurines, and spending time with her beloved dogs, Harley and Bandit.

She is survived by her children: David Hess of Dubuque, IA, and Paula Duncan of Goodyear, AZ; step-daughters: Kim (Jason) Mills, and Kelly (Adam) Livesay; grandchildren: Jennifer (Steve) Hess, Matthew Hess, Jeffery (Ashley) Hess, Elaina Hess, Henry (Sierra) Hess, Mariah (Tyler) Young, and Robbie (Breanna) Duncan; 21 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bill Sanders, Jim (Keiko) Sanders, Mike Sanders, Tom Sanders, and Sandy (Paul) Dolter.

Jackie is preceded in death by her mother Grace Sanders; significant other Dennis Loney; sisters, Judith Kramer and Mary Habel; brother Robert Kramer; sisters-in-law, Nancy Sanders and Robin Sanders; nieces, Natalie Sanders and Becky James.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

The family would like to thank Tara Maiden for all her great care and compassion for Jackie.
