Jon Joseph Thul, age 64, of Dubuque, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026.  In keeping with Jon’s wishes, private family services will be held.  Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is assisting Jon’s family.

Jon was born on May 9, 1961, in Dubuque, the son of Dean and Patricia (Schuller) Thul.

He attended Table Mound, Washington Junior High and graduated from Dubuque Senior High School, Class of 1979.

Jon worked at Burger King in Dubuque and New Orleans for several years.  For over 20 years he worked at Wal-Mart in Dubuque where he made many friends and enjoyed all the people he would meet every day.

Jon enjoyed reading, movies and loved his music, especially the classics from Barbara Streisand and Barry Manilow.  He loved his dogs, Alphie and Jack, and he looked forward to being reunited with them again.  Jon’s family was very important to him and he always enjoyed getting together any chance he could, especially with his favorite niece Tiffany.

a sister-in-law,
Jill Thul, Dubuque, IA;

and 6 nieces and nephews.

Jon was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Thul; a brother, Steve Thul; his grandparents; and his long-time best-friend, Dave Dunlap.

His family would like to thank Ecumenical Towers, the Dubuque Police Department, the Medical Examiner Investigator and the first responders who were a blessing to his family.
