Lyle J. Hirsch
Lyle J. Hirsch, 82, of Durango, Iowa, passed away on August 25, 2026, at home surrounded by his family.
According to his wishes, no public services will be held. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is assisting the family. Burial will be held at a later date at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Centralia, Iowa.
Lyle was born on January 1, 1944, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Paul and Edna (Hedrick) Hirsch. Lyle married Nancy J. Rauen on September 18, 1965. He farmed in the Graf area and was a skilled bricklayer working for more than 50 years in the Masonry Trade, valuing hard work and the many friendships he made along the way with Seedorf Masonry. He later retired from Berns Masonry. He enjoyed deer hunting, coon hunting, colling John Deere tractors, and fishing the many lakes in Iowa.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons Bill and Rick Hirsch; two grandchildren, Ashlee and Rylie; extended family and friends; and a special cousin Joe Frederick.
The family would like to thank Dr. Runde and nurse Julie and Dr. Brian Loc; the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department; and Hospice of Dubuque.
