Micki was born on April 30, 1940, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, daughter of Gene and Bernice Lowenberg. Her younger years were spent in Keosauqua, Iowa, where she spent all her time playing basketball. From high school, she enrolled in Truman University in Louisville, Missouri and later transferred to the University of Iowa where she graduated with a degree in X-ray Technology. She came to Dubuque in 1976 to raise her two sons. Many will remember Micki from the Dubuque Inn, where she was manager and Food and Beverage manager for many years.Micki had the ability to know no stranger. She embraced all who crossed her path with her welcoming nature and fantastic sense of humor, and they soon became a friend.

She left the Dubuque Inn after 20 years to start the very first Bank Travel Program for seniors in Dubuque at Dubuque Bank & Trust, called the Emerald Crown Club.  Also, while at the bank, she was responsible for part of the initial formation of Women Connect, a women’s business program.  She then began a new career of traveling all over the world as a tour escort with many, many people from the tri-state area.  Micki will be remembered for her quick wit and fantastic sense of humor.  She loved to fish, play cards, hunt morels, cruise and party.  She was a great cook, and most all her friends have tasted and been served many of her dishes.  She will be sorely missed and forever in our hearts.

She is survived by her beloved sons, Kyle E. (Julie) Stewart of Dubuque, Todd M. (TJ) Stewart of Fort Meyers, FL; daughter, Maryanne (Joe) Burns of Stratford, NJ; grandsons, Cameron and Connor Stewart, Jamie, Jennifer, April, Brittany and Eric Burns; nephew, Greg (June) Lowenberg of Fairfield, IA; niece, Lori (Steve) Danielson of Terra Haute, IN.
