Margaret M. “Marge” Brandenburg, 85, of Delmar, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, September 19, 2026, at Wheatland Manor in Wheatland, Iowa.

Margaret May Cox was born on October 27, 1940, in Centerville, Iowa, to Earnest Fay and Ruth Elnora (Michael) Cox. She grew up in Seymour and graduated from Seymour High School. On June 12, 1960, she married Larry Holmes in Seymour, Iowa, and together they were blessed with three children, Terri, Michael, and Sheila. Marge and Larry divorced, and she later found love again when she married Ronald A. Brandenburg on July 29, 1978, in Delmar, Iowa.

Marge was a devoted homemaker and also worked at International Paper in Clinton for more than 25 years before retiring. In retirement, she continued to serve others by doing in-home healthcare for several years. She was known for her strong work ethic, her caring nature, and the quiet strength she brought to every part of her life.

Marge was a member of the Delmar Methodist Church and the UMW. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she found comfort and fellowship in her church community. She enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, shopping, having coffee with friends each morning, and going for drives down country roads. She especially loved mowing her yard and took great pride in keeping things neat and beautiful. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family, and those moments brought her the greatest joy.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Terri (Brian) Lindemann of Delmar, Iowa, Mike (Diane) Holmes of Delmar, Iowa, and Sheila Coffey of Grand Mound, Iowa; her brother, Tom (Linda) Cox of Unionville, Missouri; seven grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald on January 9, 2006; her brothers, William, Eugene, and James; her sisters, Ruth and Kathy; and a son-in-law, Kent Coffey.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.  Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home.  Burial will be at the Union Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa.

The family would like to give special thanks to Marge’s close friend Phyllis Schneden for always thinking of mom.
