Marian K. Schmitt, age 88, of Dubuque, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Stonehill Health Center.  To celebrate Marian’s life, family and friends may visit from 9:00 until 10:15 a.m., on Monday, May 11, 2026, at St. Anthony’s Church, 1880 Saint Ambrose Street.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, at St. Anthony’s Church.  Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.  Behr Funeral Home is assisting Marian’s family.

Marian was born on November 15, 1937, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Rainer and Marie (Schmitt) Schmitt.

Marian attended school at Sts. Peter and Paul Grade School in Sherrill, St. Joseph Academy and the Mercy School of Nursing.  Right after graduation, Marian began her career as a Pediatrics Nurse at Mercy Hospital.  She devoted over 40 years with the hospital until her well earned retirement.  Her faith was a very important aspect of her life.  She was a long time member of St. Anthony’s Church.  In her free time, Marian enjoyed being outdoors working in her garden and caring for her home.  She truly appreciated nature and bird watching was a favorite activity. She was an excellent seamstress, cook and baker, and canned many of her own vegetables.  Her stuffing was delicious and definitely a family favorite!  She enjoyed watching baseball and was a die hard Yankees fan.  Marian liked to be informed and always kept up to date on current events.  Spending time with her family brought her great joy, and Marian loved organizing family picnics.  She will be greatly missed.
