Marilyn Butler
Marilyn Butler was taken home by the angels to be with her Savior Jesus and to see God’s face and all of her family that have gone before her; her son Randy Howell, daughter Wendy Priest, infant daughter Debbie Howell, husband Tom Butler and many more. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2026 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2145 John F. Kennedy Road. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery.
Marilyn was born in Garnavillo, Iowa, daughter of Ernest and Frances (Regal) Priebe. She was raised by her grandparents.
At a younger age, she married Tom Howell, together they had four children.
She later married the love of her life Tom Butler in 1980. Together they made a beautiful Christian home. They both loved attending Our Redeemer Lutheran Church together and both volunteered for the church for many years. He preceded her in death on August 15, 2006 after 26 years of marriage.
She is survived by a daughter, Connie (Denny) Goedert of Dubuque; two granddaughters, Jamie (Dave) Bahl of Dubuque and Emalee Goedert of Kieler, WI; three grandsons, Jay Priest of Warwick, NJ, D.J. (Catana) Goedert of Asbury, IA, and Todd (Tina) Priest of Dubuque; eight great grandchildren, Dylan Bahl, Lainie and Averie Konzen; Kayla Denniston, Karly and Khloe Goedert; Tristan and Trinity Priest; four great grandchildren; a daughter in law, Connie Howell of Dubuque; a son in law, John Priest of Dubuque; three brothers, Carroll (Jan), Bob, and Terry (Susan) Oleson and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter Debbie Howell; a son, Randy Howell; a daughter, Wendy Priest and a brother, Ronnie Priebe
