Mary Jindrich Turner Danielson, 98 years old, of Scales Mound, IL, formerly of Brush, Colorado, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the Midwest Senior Care Community.  A Celebration of Life will be held in late spring 2027.

Mary was born on October 26, 1927, in Swaledale, IA, one of seven children born to John and Mary (Dunn) Jindrich. She graduated from Swaledale High School, where she and her sisters Martha and Betty made up half of the 6-on-6 court basketball team that went to state.  After graduating, she attended Hamilton Business College.

Mary wed L.G. Turner, and they raised their nine children together in Somers, IA. They later divorced, and she moved to Brush, CO, where she met and married Bob Danielsen.

In her youth, she loved riding horses and the company of her dogs. In later years, she cherished quieter pleasures: reading, sitting in the sun, and playing Auxiliary Bingo.

Mary moved to Scales Mound ten years ago to be closer to family.  There she discovered a deep sense of joy and peace that had eluded her most of her life.  For the first time, she truly understood what it meant to not just have a family, but to be a part of one.

Mary is survived by Jeff (Debbie) Turner, Deer Park, WA; Joyce (Terry) Schoenhard, Scales Mound, IL; daughter-in-law Jean Turner, Pell City, AL; Mike Turner, Granbury, TX; Kelly (Betta) Turner, New Hill, NC; Tim (Cynde) Turner, West Des Moines, IA; Tony (Stephanie) Turner, Apple Valley, CA; 13 grandchildren: Amanda, Eric, Heather, Ryan, Andrea, Scott, Alex, Rebecca, Cory, Jeff, Jenny, Kim, Mitchell; and numerous great grandchildren whom she adored.   

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Jack Jindrich, Margaret Jindrich, Ann Larson, Martha Davis, Betty Underberg, Robert Jindrich, daughters Janice Baker and Mary Turner, and son John Turner.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff and residents of Midwest Senior Care Community Assisted Living, Nursing Home, and Hospice for the wonderful care and complete compassion they showed our mother. Special thanks to Mary’s beloved “idiots,” Rita and Janell, and Diane, for embracing her crazy sense of humor, playing along with her antics, and keeping a watchful eye on her and her “boyfriend,” Steve. Your love, laughter, and compassion provided genuine comfort to Mary and our family until her final moments.
