Nancy S. Hoag

Nancy S. Hoag, age 82, of Dubuque, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, surrounded by her children.  To honor Nancy’s life, family and friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 6:45 p.m., on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street.  Funeral services will be held following visitation at 7:00 p.m., on Monday at the funeral home, with Deacon John Stierman officiating.  Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens.

Nancy was born on June 23, 1942, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Mary (Crowley) Scharff.
Nancy was a proud lifelong Dubuquer.  She married Frederick C. “Fred” Hoag on December 29, 1962, at St. Columbkille’s Church.  Nancy came from a big family, and she and Fred followed that trend, having 6 children of their own.  Sadly, Fred passed away on January 7, 2017, after celebrating their 54th wedding anniversary.  Nancy was a full time wife and mom who also worked as a Front End GMC at Walmart for 19 years.  When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed watching tv and rooting for the NY Yankees.  Nancy liked getting outside and being on the river boating and fishing, and was never one to turn down at trip to the Bingo hall to try to win a big jackpot.  Her family truly was the most important part of her life.  Nancy loved spending time with the kids and grandkids doing all kinds of activities.  Nancy always joked that she never had any favorites, she “hated all of them the same”.  She was a wonderful woman and we will miss her tremendously.

Those left to cherish Nancy’s memory include

her children,
Dawn Bendixen,
Tina (Jeremy) Shade,
Frederick Hoag,
