Rod W. Zuehlke
Rod W. Zuehlke, 77, of Galena, IL, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Mercy One Dubuque Medical Center, Dubuque, IA, following an apparent heart attack.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque, Il, where funeral services will be held at 6;30 p.m. Wednesday, with Pastor Jake Schram officiating. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2025, at the Mound Cemetery, Pittsville, WI.
Rod was born on May 5, 1947, at Marshfield, WI, the son of Urban A. and LaVere F. (Dupee) Zuehlke. He was united in marriage to Phyllis L. Kieffer on June 18, 2005, at St. Michael’s Church in Galena, IL.
He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, the class of 1965, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and a 1969 graduate of Wisconsin State University, Platteville, WI.
Rod formerly worked as a geologist for Eagle Picher Mining of Galena and Lovelock, NV, Day Mines, Inc. of Leadville, CO, and E. J. Longyear Co., of Salt Lake City, UT. He is a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Elizabeth, IL and B.P.O.E. Lodge # 882 of Galena, and a former member of the American Institute of Mining Engineers for 25 years.
Surviving is his wife, Phyllis; step-children, Diane (Jon) Gockel of Dubuque, IA, Joe (Connie) Kieffer of Galena, Jim (Julie) Kieffer of Nevada, IA, John (Rose) Kieffer of Virginia Beach, VA, and Donna (Todd) Calvert of Galena; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Mike Terril of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and a niece, Tracy (Kurt) Gagnow of Seymour, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Urban and Levere, a sister, June Terril, a niece, Jamie Terril, step-grandson, Jordan Kieffer and uncle, Robert Knoll.
