Ruth M. Michaelson, 65, passed away on Sept 16th under the care of Hospice. She resided at Stratford Specialty Care nursing home, Stratford, Iowa.  Ruth is preceded in death by her parents Doris and Manly and her maternal grandparents, Florabel and John Holdefer and paternal grandparents Viva and Manly Michaelson.  She is survived by four siblings, Rob (Deb), James (Vivian), Charles (Becky), Martha, 15 nieces and nephews and 25 great nieces and nephews.

Ruth was baptized and confirmed at St John’s Lutheran church, Bellevue.  She was a 1979 graduate of Bellevue High School.  Ruth was naturally gifted as an artist and shared her artwork with childhood friends and family.  She found joy in music, bingo, birdwatching and collecting vintage Barbie dolls.   Above all, she dearly loved her immediate family and treasured letters and photographs of her extended family.

Services will be held at St John’s Lutheran church in Bellevue on Saturday, 03 Oct 2026.  Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 and service to follow.  Ruth will be laid to rest at St John’s Lutheran church in St Donatus at 11:30.   Lunch will follow at noon at Kalmes’ restaurant.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given via Hachman-Mier Funeral Home to the Stratford Specialty Care Nursing and Rehabilitation home in support of residents quality of life programs.  The family wishes to express its utmost gratitude to the entire staff at the Stratford nursing home for the compassionate care for Ruth over the past six years.
