Scott A. Steiner, 66, of Rock Island, Illinois, and formerly of Maquoketa and Monticello, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Friendship Manor in Rock Island, Illinois.

Scott Alan Steiner was born on January 22, 1960, in Monticello, Iowa, to Vernon “Pete” and Mary Jane (Koster) Steiner. He grew up in Monticello and was a 1978 graduate of Monticello High School.

In 1978, Scott married Judy Townsend in Monticello, Iowa. Together they were blessed with three daughters, Shauna, Staci, and Katlyn, who were the pride and joy of his life. Although Scott and Judy later divorced, he remained devoted to his family and continued to take great pride in the lives and accomplishments of his children. He later found love again and on May 1, 2013, he married Lori Watters Warner in New Orleans, Louisiana, and found lasting companionship and happiness with her.

Following his training in masonry and construction at Northeast Iowa Community College, Scott moved to Maquoketa, where he began a long and respected career in maintenance. He worked at the Jackson County Public Hospital for 15 years, becoming the Maintenance Director through his dedication, skill, and dependable nature. He later joined Friendship Manor in Rock Island, where he served for 30 years until retirement as Director of Plant Operations.

Scott was a social and outgoing person who enjoyed being surrounded by the people he loved. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and a longtime member of the I-Club. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whether boating and fishing on the river, cheering on the Hawkeyes, or relaxing at the family cabin in Guttenberg. His warm personality, easy smile, and genuine interest in others made him a cherished friend to many.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Lori Steiner of Rock Island, IL; his daughter, Shauna and Nick Barton of Maquoketa, IA, and their children, Cole and Anna Barton; his daughter, Staci and Kevin Williams of Tampa, FL, and their children, Klayton and Kameron Williams; and his daughter, Katlyn and Wes Middleswart of Cedar Rapids, IA, and their son, Maddox Middleswart. He is also survived by his stepson, Ryan and Kelly Warner of Chicago, IL, and their son, Jack Warner; and his stepson, Tanner Warner of Chicago, IL.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon “Pete” and Mary Jane Steiner, and by his sisters, Eulon and Kimberly.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. with a memorial service beginning at 11:30 A.M. at Friendship Manor in Rock Island, IL.  A gathering of family and friends celebrating Scott’s life will be held from 4 to 7 P.M., Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. A graveside service and burial will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello, Iowa.
