Sheila Dolan

Sheila Dolan, 81, of Dubuque, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018 at home.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, March 25 at Hoffmann Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., Dubuque, where there will be a service at 1 p.m. Rev. Dianne Grace of Hospice of Dubuque will officiate. Private burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.

Sheila was born November 29, 1936 in Dubuque, the daughter of Elmer and Alo (Hamann) Thompson. She graduated from Senior High School and worked for her parents at their grocery store and at Luigi’s Pizza House. She married the love of her life, John Dolan on August 16, 1958. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2018.

Sheila loved her morning coffee and word search puzzles. She proudly displayed the American Flag in front of the house in honor of her father, she was a great baker, enjoyed visiting Eagle Point Park with her husband John, she wholeheartedly loved her family and cherished taking care of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, the Kunkel kids and the family pets.

Sheila is survived by two children, Kim (Jim) Dolan-Backhaus of Hustisford, WI and Patrick Dolan of Dubuque; three grandchildren, Nicole Schueller of Brookfield, IL, Ashley (Ryan) Nyhus of Verona, WI, and Austin (Erin Rebholz) Nicholls of Sandy Springs, GA; three great-grandchildren, Morgan Schueller, Caidence and Wesley Nyhus; and her sister Jannan (Tom) Pauly.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; Elmer and Alo Thompson.

Memorials may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
