Sr. Joyce Rohlik, BVM

Sister Joyce Rohlik, BVM, (Joyce Mary), 85, of Mount Carmel Bluffs, 1160 Carmel Drive, Dubuque, Iowa, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024.

Visitation will be from 9-9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024, in the Marian Hall Chapel. Sharing of Memories will be at 9:30 a.m., followed immediately by the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial is in the Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Sister Joyce was an elementary teacher in Muscatine, Iowa; Berwyn, Ill.; Oak Park, Ill.; Orlando, Fla.; and Chicago, where she also taught secondary physical education.  She ministered as an activity coordinator for health care facilities and as pastoral minister and ministry coordinator for Catholic parishes in Altamonte Springs and Goldenrod, Fla.  She also served as a parish minister in DeBary, Fla.; a diocesan annulment advocate in Lakeland, Fla.; and a hospital chaplain and parish pastoral care minister in St. Pete Beach, Fla.

She was born March 10, 1939, in DeKalb, Ill., to Edward and Helen (Miskin) Rohlik. She entered the BVM congregation July 31, 1961, from St. Mary Parish, DeKalb, Ill. She professed first vows on Feb. 2, 1964, and final vows on June 1, 1969.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother William (Mary) Sullivan; sisters Joan (Pasqual) Petitti, Elaine (Paul) Polishuk, and Helen Rohlik; and brother-in-law Robin Lillibridge. She is survived by a sister Mary Jean Lillibridge, Shreveport, La., nieces, nephews, and the Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared life for 63 years.
