Steven Westmark

Steven Westmark, 62, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 1, 2026, after a long battle with metastatic melanoma. To celebrate Steven’s life, friends and family may call between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM on Friday, November 6 at Bible Baptist Church, 940 Walker Street, Dubuque, IA. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM

Steven was born on September 1, 1964. He married Sherrie (Davis) on May 20, 2006, and was a proud and devoted father to their daughter Alexis. He worked at Midwest Hardwoods for over 20 years and was also an Army Reservist

He had so many things he was passionate about – Classical music (especially Mozart), Astronomy (particularly the Apollo missions), and, of course, his beloved Chicago Cubs. He was interested in radio broadcasting since he was a young teenager and briefly had a radio station of his own in the 70s and, more recently, had a small transmitter set up in his home where he read scripture to whomever might be tuning in.

He had an amazing memory and would often text the rest of the family to remind them of birthdays. He retained all the important dates of all family members and friends and was always tickled to find out that two people had the same birthday. He had in-depth knowledge about all the things he loved and could recite Cubs stats, composer birth dates, and important dates related to space missions.

His faith was very important and gave him great comfort. At work, he would read the Bible every day at lunch, sitting in his car for peace and reflection. His church was his second family. He was well known for his “Dad jokes” – sometimes even followed by a rim shot noise that he kept handy on his phone.

Steven is survived by his wife, Sherrie; daughter, Alexis; siblings, Terri (Eric) Winsor, Mike (Sue) Westmark and Gary Westmark; his “bonus siblings”, Kathy (Mike) Quinn and George (Lynn) Wellendorf; sister-in-law, Becky (Eric) Davis; brothers-in-law, Kelly (Jodi) Davis, Greg Davis, and Joe Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Ronnie (Pappas) Westmark; and his parents-in-law, Earl and Eleanor (Arp) Davis.

Steven’s family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque, especially Angela, Amy, and Rian, for the care they provided in his last months of life.

In lieu of flowers, a Steven J. Westmark memorial fund has been established.
