Trisha L. Brookins

Trisha Lynn Brookins, 46 of Dubuque went home to Jesus on April 15, 2026. A prayer service will be held at 2:30 pm on Friday, April 24 at the St. Raphael Cathedral in Dubuque. A wake will follow from 3pm – 7:30 pm.  There will be a final visitation on Saturday April 25 from 9 am – 10 am.  The Mass of Christian Burial for Trisha will be at 10:30 am at St. Raphael Cathedral, with Very Rev. Dennis Quint, Rev. Jeff Frieden and Rev. Tom Srenn as concelebrants. Burial will follow at the East Dubuque Cemetery.

Trisha was born on May 22, 1979 to Lee & Vickie (Leute) Donar in Dubuque, IA. She was deeply rooted in Catholic faith from the beginning.

Trisha went to St. Joseph grade school in Hazel Green, WI before graduating from Wahlert Catholic High School in Dubuque, IA in 1997.  She completed her education at Edgewood University in Madison, WI with a Bachelor of Science in Biology degree, a minor in Psychology and education endorsement.

Trisha had a passion for teaching 7th grade science for over 20 years at Saint James in Madison, and Central DeWitt Middle School in DeWitt, IA.  She did this so well that some of them returned with degrees to teach alongside Trisha.

Trisha married Jwan Brookins on June 20, 2009 at St. Raphael Cathedral.

Trisha love being a MOM to her 4 children and a WIFE to her husband.  She loved making memories with her family.

She was a F.R.I.E.N.D. to many and lived her life with love and kindness.  She had a heart of gold and cared about others before herself.

Trisha is survived by her husband Jwan, her four children Jayden, Josiah, Trinity, and Tirzah.  Her parents, Lee and Vickie Donar, sister Julie Donar-Shade (Jeff), mother-in-law Yvonne McGee, and Godfather Rick Leute.

She was preceded by her maternal grandparents, Richard & Lorraine Leute, paternal grandparents, Leo & Mary Donar, her godmother Aimee Leute, and Baby Brookins.

The Miller Funeral Home of East Dubuque, IL is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, a Trisha Lynn Brookins memorial fund has been established for an educational fund for her children.
