Margie J. Roth

Margie J. Roth, 99, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022, surrounded by family at Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at St. Mary’s Church in East Dubuque, with Fr. Dennis Vargas officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque, where the parish prayer service will be at 3:30 p.m. Friends may also call from 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Margie was born May 25, 1923, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Arthur and Katherine (Welter) Sarazin.  She married the love of her life, Ambrose C. “Ambie” Roth on July 25, 1945 in Dubuque.  Margie and Ambie spent 68 wonderful years together before Ambie passed away on April 24, 2014.

Margie was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, and grandmother with a heart of gold.

She loved spending time with family and friends, cooking, baking, and sewing. She was always happy to help everyone from stitching torn clothes and making alterations to lending an ear if you needed to talk. In 1966 she moved with her husband to “the farm” and became a great farmer’s wife.  Not only did she enjoy taking the kids and grandkids out to do chores, she prepared many meals for family and friends after a long hard day’s work. Margie’s cooking was the main reason Ambie had no problem getting help on the farm.

Margie was an avid craft maker in her sewing room. She made and repaired adult and doll clothing, photo albums, cabbage patch dolls and much more. If it had a stitch, she could make it or repair it.

One of her favorite holiday pastimes was making turtles.  She would sit at the kitchen table with family, friends and mostly her husband turning it into a candy factory.

When Margie wasn’t at the farm you might find her at Bingo or an occasional visit to the casino. She wouldn’t miss bingo for the world.

Margie loved entertaining at the farm.  She couldn’t wait to see who would stop in,  and if you did stop in your short visit became a all day affair because you didn’t want to leave.  She had that fun personality that would keep you there all day. If you didn’t stop at the farm maybe, you would have been lucky enough to go to breakfast with her.  Margie went to breakfast frequently; she loved her dippy eggs, especially at Stonehill.

Surviving is her daughter, Diane K. Korish (special friend, Carl Langkamp) of Benton, WI: her two sons, Duane V. Roth (special friend Sissy, of Ash Flats, AR., and David R. (Pam) Roth, of East Dubuque, IL.  6 Grandchildren, numerous Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great-Grandchildren, her sister Rita Clancy, Dubuque, IA., and sisters-in-law, Darlene Gibson and Lois Roth, both of East Dubuque, IL and many nieces and nephews.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, her cherished husband Ambie, a son, Daniel A. Roth, a granddaughter, Tammy L. Roth, a great-granddaughter, Chelsie Jo Roth; her siblings, Dorothy Vosberg, Roy (Mary) Sarazin, Violet (Bill) Haberkorn, Evelyn (Ralph) Dean, Ruth (Ollie) King, Mildred (Robert) Schroeder, Nancy (Elmer) Mills and Grace (Charles) Clancy; and 7 brothers-in law, John Speaker, Wayne Roth, Edward Roth, Louis Roth, Donald Roth, Gordon Gibson and Ron Metcalf; 2 sisters-in-law Carrie Johnston and Helen Metcalf

Everley K. Krier

Everley “Evie” Kay Krier, 3, of Dubuque, died Thursday, November 24, 2022, at the MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center in Dubuque.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, November 28, 2022 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Evie will be 10:30 am Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Church of the Resurrection with Father Phil Gibbs as the Celebrant.

Everley was born August 3, 2019, in Iowa City, IA, the daughter of Miranda Klein and Austin Krier.

Evie was baptized at the Church of the Resurrection. She was the heart of our family and the motivation we needed to keep going. Despite her short time on earth, she was deeply loved and brought immense joy to those around her. She loved to listen to music, toys with bright lights, being tickled, and most of all, spending time with her family. You couldn’t help but smile when you heard her contagious laugh. We will never forget her big, beautiful smile and her sweet innocence. She loved being included in her siblings’ adventures. Everley loved listening to her big sister Ava tell her stories and her big brother Kaiser could always make her laugh with his silly antics. But Evie’s favorite thing of all was to be held and cuddled by her Mom and Dad. She was loved by all who met her and will forever be our “Evie girl”.

Survivors include her mother, Miranda Klein of Dubuque, her father, Austin Krier of Dubuque, sister, Ava and brother, Kaiser, grandfather, Ron Klein of Dubuque, grandmother, Lisa Klein of Dubuque, grandmother, Renee Krier of Dubuque, great-grandfather, Bill Odefey of Dubuque, great-grandmother, Sandy Pierce of Sherrill, IA, great-grandfather, Richard Rennison of Dubuque, great-grandmother, Kathy Rennison of Dubuque, great-grandfather, Donald Krier, Sr. of Dubuque, great-grandmother, Terri Krier of Dubuque, aunts and uncles, Morgan, Lyle, and Logan Klein; Breanna, Amelia, Roni, Paige, Destiny, Kam, and Brentley Krier; and Godparents Courtney Gibbs and Brandon Blakemore.

She was preceded in death by her grandpa, Donald Krier, Jr., great-grandma, Barb Odefey, great-grandpas, Lyle Klein and Bob Pierce, and great-aunt, Angie.

Donald J. Davis

Donald J. “Don” Davis, age 68, of Sherrill, IA, completed his earthly journey suddenly on November 23, 2022, at home. To honor Don’s life, a Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at Breitbach’s Country Dining, 563 Balltown Road in Sherrill, IA. The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Don’s family.

Don was born on November 3, 1954, in Dubuque, IA, to Lawrence L. and Grace M. (Elgin) Davis. He was raised to appreciate the value of a strong work ethic that he demonstrated throughout his entire life. Don was united in marriage to Mary Ann Kutsch on July 1, 1972, at SS. Peter & Paul Church in Sherrill, IA.

He spent the majority of his career at Klauer Manufacturing, where he made many friends over the years. While working at Klauer, Don also ran his own family garbage route for 10 years. In 2009, he retired from Klauer to help on the farm of a close friend, Joel Datisman, and to spend time with his family.

Don appreciated the good things in life. He loved spending time with his family, especially when he could share advice on how to do things the “right” way, which generally meant “his” way. His joking personality always came out at the card table with family and friends, especially with his sister, Linda. During the winter, Don could be found working on his puzzles, but the warmer months he spent outside working on his hobby farm, his most fulfilling achievement. Don’s greatest joy was to play Santa. It was a magical time not only for the children, but for Don also. He would always get the biggest smile when the kids recognized him in public.

Don was taken from us much too soon and too quickly for our hearts to comprehend, but thankfully he leaves behind a lifetime of wonderful memories for us to lean into as we seek peace and healing in our hearts. Thank you, Don, for being the man you were made to be, and may the Lord keep you safe in His loving arms until we see you again.

Mildred J. Feddersen

Mildred “Millie” J. Feddersen, 92, of Dubuque, passed away on November 24th, 2022, at Stonehill Health Center in Dubuque.

A private family burial service will be held at Dubuque Memorial Gardens. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is assisting the family.

Millie was born on October 8th, 1930, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, daughter of Alvah and Ellen (Anderson) Ford. She grew up in Fort Dodge and later moved to Dubuque. She worked for the former Dubuque Packing Co., the City of Dubuque Parking Division as a meter-maid, and for Hillcrest as a Foster Grandparent.

Millie was a cat lover with a quick wit and a good personality. She was always prepared with a quick comeback and a good story. She will be greatly missed by all those she loved.

She is survived by her three sons John Feddersen of Onslow, IA, Michael Feddersen of Dubuque, and Robert “Rob” (Kelly) Feddersen of Dubuque, eight grandchildren, and sister Inez (Bill) Vondran of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons David and Richard “Rick”, brothers Jim and Ralph, twin brother Wilfred “Willie”, and sisters Norma Peacock and Dorothy Callahan.

Thank you to the nurses and staff at Stonehill for making her a part of the family, especially Migual.

Robert B. Miller

Robert B. Miller, 97, of Dubuque, died Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Bethany Home.

Private funeral services will be held. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road is entrusted with arrangements.

Bob was born on August 11, 1925, in Anamosa, Iowa, son of Oscar M. and Glada (Breed) Miller. He graduated from Anamosa High School in 1943 where he participated in sports and band. He joined the U.S. Navy Air Corps in January 1944 and served until May of 1946. He then attended the University of Dubuque where he played both football and basketball and was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame.

He married Donna K. Lundeen on August 24, 1948, at the Chapel at the University of Dubuque. He graduated from the University in January 1950 with a degree in Business Administration.

After graduation Bob and Donna lived in Peoria, Illinois for two years, two years in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and then returned to Dubuque. They started Miller Electric Supply Co. in January 1963, which they operated until July 1992 when they sold it to their daughter and son-in-law, Kevin and Lynne Oyen.

Bob served on the Finley Foundation Board, the Bethany Home Board, and the Hospice of Dubuque Board. He was a past member of the Rotary Club, Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Dubuque Golf and Country Club where he enjoyed golf with his many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Douglas J. Miller; daughter, Lynne M. (Kevin) Oyen, all of Dubuque; two grandchildren, Curtis M. (Kim) Oyen and Lesley M. Oyen; and 4 great- grandchildren, Kendyl, Cain, Sayler and Summer Oyen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, John, and Larry.

Memorials may be given to Bethany Home, Finley Hospital or Hospice of Dubuque.

Norman C. Kennedy

Norman C. Kennedy, 77, of Maquoketa, Iowa passed away on November 23rd.

Norm is a Maquoketa, Iowa, native, raised on a family farm known for purebred Angus Show cattle. After his time in college at the Iowa State University, Norm served in the U.S Army National Guard Reserve from 1966-1971.

On August 4th, 1968 Norm married Sandra Sue Small and they had 3 children. Paul “PJ”, Patricia and Patrick.

In 1980 Norm acquired his Brokers license and began Kennedy Realty. In 2009 he merged with Gilmore Realty forming Kennedy-Gilmore Realty. On January 1, 2020, Kennedy-Gilmore joined forces with Nemmers Realty forming the Nemmers Realty Maquoketa office.

Norm led students in both 4-H and Junior Achievement.

Norm was member of the National Association of REALTORS®, the Iowa Association of REALTORS® and the East Central Iowa Association of REALTORS®. He has served in the capacity of President for the Jackson County Board of Realtors three times. Over the years, Norm has served on a number of boards throughout the community and was a member of the Rotary, the Masons and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

Those left to honor his memory include his 3 children, Paul “PJ” of Des Moines, Patricia (Barry) Davanzo of New York, Patrick of Denver, Colorado and 3 grandchildren Joshua, Marisol and Nicolena. Brother-in-law Gregory (Kim) Small and his beloved dog “Maggie”.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Sandra.

Rose C. Oldenburg

Rose C. Oldenburg, 99 of Galena, IL passed away Monday, November 21, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, December 3, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Galena, where friends may call after 10:30 AM until the time of mass. Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM Friday, December 2, 2022, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena. A parish rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM, at the funeral home. The burial will be in the church cemetery. Military honors will be accorded graveside by Galena VFW Post #2665 and American Legion Post #193.

Rose was born on February 23, 1923, in Galena, the daughter of John and Ida (Marsden) Manz. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Galena High School in 1941. She married Leo Oldenburg on May 26, 1948, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Galena and he preceded her in death on December 27, 2010. Rose was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church all her life. After high school, Rose moved to Chicago, Il where she worked and lived with her sister. She felt called to serve her country in support of the WWII effort by joining the U.S. Navy Waves in August 1944. She was assigned duty in Washington, DC, and later transferred to Honolulu, HI where she joined America in celebrating VJ Day on August 15, 1945. Rose returned to Galena after the war and worked as a dental assistant until she joined her fiancé, Leo Oldenburg, in running the East Side Grocery. Together they grew that business and opened Leo’s Super Valu supermarket in 1959. Rose was a wonderful wife and mother as well as a tireless volunteer in parish and community activities. She was a member of St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic Daughter of America, Galena Hospital Auxiliary, and Meals on Wheels. She also continued helping in the grocery store and was a lifelong volunteer in being a Sacristan at St. Mary’s Church. Her hobbies included antiquing and traveling. She and Leo made many trips throughout the US and abroad. Rose was a very faith-filled person. She had great inner strength and indomitable spirit. All her children and grandchildren were inspired by her and learned from her how to live a life rich in faith, truth, gratitude, and energy.

She is survived by her three children, David (Margaret Piquett) Oldenburg and Mary (Gary) Jobgen of Galena, and Mark (Ann Feeley) Oldenburg of Rochester, MN, nine grandchildren, Matthew Oldenburg, Jennifer (Oldenburg) Anderson, Paul Oldenburg, Eric Oldenburg, Angela (Oldenburg) Kueny, Joseph Oldenburg, Martha Oldenburg, Emily (Jobgen) Bloedel, and Christina (Jobgen) Frank, two step-grandchildren, Shelly and Michael Jobgen, and twelve great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Dorie Virtue of Galena.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Charles, and Joseph Manz, and three sisters, Edith Shuey, Mary Dhont, and Lorraine Foecking.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Mary Koenigs and her staff at Medical Associates for their years of wonderful care. We also wish to thank Hospice of Dubuque for their tender and professional services provided during her last weeks.

Ruth M. Turnis

Ruth M. Turnis, 83, of Dubuque, died on Monday, November 21, 2022, at Bethany Home in Dubuque.

A prayer service will be held at 3:00 pm followed by visitation until 6:00 pm on Friday, November 25, 2022 at Hoffman Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home, and also from 10:00 am until 10:45 am on Saturday prior to services at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Worthington.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth will be 11:00 am Saturday, November 26, 2022, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church with Father Philip Agyei as the Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Worthington, Iowa.

Ruth was born February 19, 1939, in Monticello, IA, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Sherlock) Turnis. Following her 1959 graduation from Mercy School of nursing, she was a Registered Nurse in the Dubuque community for 45 years, working 33 at Mercy Hospital, where Mental Health was her passion. She then worked with the Sinsinawa Mound Dominicans, and Hospice of Dubuque. She was also one of the founding board members of Hospice in 1982 and was one of their first volunteer nurses.

Ruth was a member of St. Joseph the Worker in Dubuque for over 50 years, where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She lived her faith and gave generously to many causes. She enjoyed crafts, games, travel, and singing in choirs. She was a fiercely independent woman, who always spoke her mind, and loved her family and friends, her church, and her community. Ruth was honored by the Community Foundation for charitable giving, especially starting the Frank Turnis Family Fund in 2013 for students going into Health Care fields at NICC.

Survivors include sisters Mary Frances Jasper and Roseanne Heid, both of Hopkinton; brothers-in-law, Jack Digmann and Leo Heid of Hopkinton; sisters-in- law Verla Turnis of Worthington, Verna Turnis of DeWitt and Mary Kay Turnis of Manchester; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews, several special God-Children; and many wonderful friends. Locally, her niece Cathy McDermott and her good friend Betty Kremer, were especially helpful over the last few years.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Richard “Dick” Turnis, Mark Turnis, William “Bill” Turnis, Phillip “Phil” Turnis; sisters, Norma McDonell, Elizabeth “Betty” Turnis, Janet Digmann; brothers-in-law, Stephen McDonell, Larry Jasper; sister-in-law, Sylvia Turnis; three nephews, and many dear friends.

The family wants to especially thank the staff of Bethany Retirement Home and Hospice of Dubuque for their care of Ruth and support of the family. They helped her make her own choices until the end, so she died as she lived, or as the old song says “I did it my way!”

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Alpha-1 Foundation, Hospice of Dubuque, NAMI of Dubuque, or Mental Health America.

Karen L. Loney

Karen Lynn Loney, 70, of Dubuque, IA passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Dubuque Specialty Care. According to her wishes there will be no public visitation or service. Entombment will take place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd. Dubuque is assisting the family. 

Karen was born in Dubuque on October 27, 1952, the daughter of Orville F. and Dorothy Ann (Hoffman) Potter. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1970. Karen worked as a nursing assistant in Waterloo, IA until her Retirement.

Karen loved spending time with family and friends but also enjoyed peaceful time to herself. She was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and would cheer them on any chance she got. The time she spent to herself involved reading books and watching movies. 

She is survived by her children, Jeff (Angie) Loney, Thomas (Erika) Loney, Brandy (Bill) Pearson and Darrell “D.J.” Kauten Jr; 12 grandchildren, Tyler, Noelle, Michael, Baylor, Ainsley, Dylan, Waylon, William, Levi, Christopher, Moira and Alexander; her brother, William Potter; her nieces Tracy Torrey and Shari Bush who cared for Karen when she needed.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Diane Berry and brothers, Stephen Potter Sr. and Lee Potter Sr. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Leonard Funeral Home in Karen’s name.

Kenneth L. Weuste

Kenneth Lloyd “Ken” Weuste, 80, of Andrew, Iowa, passed away peacefully, on his birthday, Friday, November 18, 2022.

Services celebrating Ken’s life will start at 9:30 am for visitation and the memorial will begin at 11:30 am, Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew, Iowa.  The burial will be at the Andrew Cemetery.  The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.

Ken Weuste was born on November 18, 1942 in Davenport, Iowa, to Edwin and Henrietta (Rommert) Weuste.  He grew up in Andrew and graduated from Andrew High School in 1960.  He married Christine Louise Cornelius his high school sweetheart, on February 7, 1961 at Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew, Iowa.   To this union three children were born:  Donna, Greg, and Theresa.  He then furthered his education at Clinton Community College.

Ken learned the value of hard work at an early age working for Rasmussen Motor Company in Maquoketa while in high school.  Upon his marriage to Chris, he worked various jobs until 1968 when he took a job working for Chemplex in Clinton as a maintenance technician.  He retired in 2004.  In retirement, he continued to stay busy and served his community by working for Osterhaus Pharmacy in Maquoketa as a deliveryman for 15 years.

Ken was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew.  He enjoyed flying R/C Airplanes, gardening, and making wren birdhouses.  He also enjoyed helping his brother by being the announcer for Otter Creek Motor Sports. He enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and chasing off the squirrels.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Chris Weuste of Andrew, IA; children, Donna (John) Lamphere of Cascade, IA, Greg (Linda) Weuste of LeClaire, IA, and Theresa (Anthony) Jensen of Andrew, IA; and 6 grandchildren, Olivia (Alan) Turnis, Cody (Sarah) Lamphere, Alexander Weuste, Evangeline Weuste, Wyatt Jensen, and Annaliese Jensen.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Richard, Ralph, and Keith.

Doris Anastasia Donovan died peacefully on November 19, 2022. Visitation will be from 9 to 11:15 am Wednesday, November 30 at the Church of the Resurrection followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am.  Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Bernard.

Doris was born on July 28, 1926, to William F. and Loretta Dunn.  She grew up in Bernard, Iowa, a devoted member of St. Patrick’s parish, and graduated from Garryowen High School at 15 years of age in 1942.

Doris was a quintessential young woman of the 1940’s, favoring a structured suit, a stacked heel, and a full dance card.  A member of an Irish American postal dynasty – both her father and future husband were postmasters in Bernard – Doris clerked for the USPS on and off before her retirement in 1991.

After World War II, Doris began a long courtship with her brother’s best friend, Raymond J. Donovan.  They married on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 1950 (wedding on a holiday at her father’s request to avoid disruption to the local mail service).

Her proudest achievement was raising her seven children.  Her love for them was manifest in fresh baked dinner rolls, homemade jam, baseball jerseys hanging on the clothesline, and irrationally exuberant outbursts at sporting events.  She instilled a strong sense of citizenship in her children and prized her “perfect” voting record.

Doris is survived by and will forever inspire her seven “favorite” children, their spouses, and her grandchildren: Robert (Linda, Patrick, Abby) Donovan; William (Peggy, Matthew, Michelle) Donovan; Luann (J.F., Jennifer, Sarah, Caitlyn, Shannon) Scherer; Nancy (Cris, Natalie, Nicholas) Schoon; Mary (Scott, Anastasia, Alexis, Andrew) Sweeney; John (Cynthia) Donovan; and Ann (David) Ricketts.  She leaves 15 great grandchildren.

Doris was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings Billy, Betty, Louis, Charlie and Janet.

The Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bernard Fire and EMS or Cascade Fire and EMS.

The family would like to thank Dr. Andrea Ries for years of care and compassion to our mother, and Hospice of Dubuque staff for their professionalism and kindness in Mom’s final days.

James J. Henry

James Joseph Henry, 97 of Galena, IL passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM, Monday, November 28, 2022, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Galena, where friends may call after 10 AM until the time of mass at church. The burial will be in the church cemetery. Military honors will be accorded graveside by Galena VFW Post #2665 and American Legion Post #193. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family.

He was born on September 20, 1925, in Chicago, IL the son of James and Helen (Klein) Henry.  Jim served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1943 until 1946. He then enlisted in U.S. Navy in 1948 serving aboard the Flagship USS Tampa in North Atlantic, Flagship LST 782, amphibious service in the Pacific theater-Captain (Coxswain) of Higgins Boat and 20mm gunner, Flagship USS Albany heavy cruiser-Electronics Technician in Atlantic and Pacific theaters. Jim received various combat medals and commendations until his honorable discharge in 1953. He was united in marriage to Ruth Trimpler of Chicago on April 16, 1955, and she survives. Jim then served as a lieutenant for the Village of Winnetka police department. He also owned and operated an electronics shop in Glenview, IL. Jim enjoyed police canine training, sailing, fishing, traveling, camping, and playing piano, and had a love of all animals, especially dogs. Upon moving to Galena, he became very active in the community serving as Post Commander and Chaplain of Galena VFW Post #2665, and Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus. Jim was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church where he taught adult religious classes, and youth CCD, and was a member of the choir. 

He is survived by his wife, Ruth, a daughter, Theresa Severin, and four grandchildren, Jim Severin, Andy (Nicole) Severin, Nikki Severin, and Jonathon Henry.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Patty Henry, his grandson, Patrick Henry, two sisters, Betty Kramer, and Helen Spiering, and a brother, Bob Henry.

The family wishes to thank all EMTs, paramedics, fire and police personnel, medical professionals, and hospice care providers for their compassionate assistance.

Thomas D. Felderman

Thomas D. Felderman, 87, of Peosta died Saturday, November 12, 2022.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 1:45 pm Tuesday, November 22 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Peosta, IA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 pm.  The Mass will be livestreamed at www.egelhofsiegertcasper.com.

Tom was born July 10, 1935 in Dubuque, son of LaVerne and Elizabeth (Eberhardt) Felderman.  He graduated from Loras Academy in 1953.  On January 6, 1955, Tom married Joan McElmeel at St. Raphael Cathedral.

He served two years in the US Army at Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, NC and 36 years in the Iowa National Guard, retiring as Command Sergeant Major.  Tom retired from State Farm Insurance in 2014 after 44 years.  A 50-year member of the Elks Club to include Exalted Ruler, member and past President of the board at Thunder Hills Country Club since 1974.  Toms greatest joy was playing golf with his family and friends.  Tom and Joan enjoyed playing golf in all of the Thunder Hills Country Club’s Couples Classics.

Tom is survived by his wife, Joan Felderman of Peosta; four children, Mike (Deb) Felderman of Dubuque, Rick (Wendy) Felderman of Peosta, Mark (Michelle) Felderman, of Oldsmar, FL, and Terri Lynn (Kevin) Blake of Queen Creek, AZ; 10 Grandchildren; Stacy (Jim) Hirsch, Brad Felderman (Kristine), Todd (Laurie) Felderman, Adam Felderman (Melissa), Cory (Cara) Felderman, Holly (Logan) Ruble, Casey (Kayla) Moriarty, Arianna Harris, Madison Harris, Alexis Blake and 16 Great Grandchildren.  He is survived by a brother, Jack (Janet) Felderman; sister-in-law, Doris Felderman, and brother-in-law’s, Dennis Berger & Steve LuGrain.  Sister- in -Laws, Linda Kuhn, Sharon Braem and Mary Kay (John) Casper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law Howard (Matilda) McElmeel, brother David Felderman and a sister Janet Berger.  Brothers and Sisters In-Law;  Bob (Judy) McElmeel, Tom McElmeel, Dan McElmeel, Mike McElmeel, Jim Kuhn, Diane Correll and Lana LuGrain.

Linda L. Klar

Linda L. Klar, age 70, of Dubuque, passed away unexpectedly at 4:40 p.m., on Friday, November 18, 2022, at UnityPoint Health Finley Hospital.  To honor Linda’s life, family and friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street.  Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Behr Funeral Home with Deacon John Stierman officiating.

Linda was born on December 26, 1951, in Dubuque, daughter of Robert Kenneth and Alma Jean (Johnson) Bush.

Linda graduated from Dubuque Senior High School, Class of 1969, and went on to Capri Cosmetology School.  She also earned her CNA and worked with the Sisters of the Presentation and at the nursing home in Lancaster.  She was a hard worker and was also employed with Ken Fenelon Café and the Bakers Oven in Galena.  Linda was an awesome mom!  Her family meant the world to her and she made sure that everyone knew how loved they were.  She was a great cook and baker, enjoyed mowing the grass, decorating the house and painting.  Linda was a regular at Bingo at the Tri-State Blind Society on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.  She also volunteered her time and served as Past President of RiverFest and the ACME Union.  Linda was a wonderful woman and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Karen M. Cue

Karen M. (Dobson) Cue, age 81, of Hazel Green, WI, passed away on Nov. 10, 2022, at St. Dominic Villa while surrounded by her loving family.  To honor Karen’s life, her memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sat., Dec. 3, 2022, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3650 Asbury Rd, in Dubuque.  Family and friends are invited to visit with the family from 2:30-4:00 pm with the services to follow.  A zoom meeting will also be available for those who are unable to attend.  Please feel free to call (563) 590-0899 for zoom details.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Karen’s family.

She was born on June 27, 1941, in Mineral Point, WI, a daughter to Dennis and Bernita (Martin) Dobson.  Sadly, her parents both passed away while she was young and Vic and Irene Severson found the necessary love in their hearts and lives to raise Karen as their own.  Karen grew into a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending countless hours baking and cooking up wonderful meals as she raised and cared for the family of her own.  Her heart was as loving and tender as anyone could ever hope for and we are grateful for all of the beautiful memories that Karen leaves behind for us now.
