Patrick L. Dillon
Patrick L. “Pat” Dillon, age 85, of Dubuque and formerly of East Dubuque, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Stonehill Health Center. To celebrate Pat’s life, family and friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at St. Raphael Cathedral, 231 Bluff Street. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Pat Dillon was born in the backseat of a Chevy car on August 23, 1939. Pat was the 3rd child, and 1st boy of 10 children in the Lawrence “Larry” and Ann (Norton) Dillon family. He had a happy childhood, being raised on “Irish” Southern Avenue and learned life lessons from the B.V.M. Sisters at St. Raphael Cathedral. Pat continued his education at Loras Academy, Class of 1957, and went into the Army at age 17, right after graduating. While in the service, Pat fired “Expert” with the M1rifle on the known distance range and with the Carbine. He was high man in the battalion in 1959, at Camp McCoy in Wisconsin.
In 1960, Pat was hired at John Deere Dubuque Works and worked there for more than 37 years. While at John Deere, Pat became active in the Union and was a full time union representative for UAW Local 94 for 28 years, including as President for 21 of those years. During this active leadership Pat attended many classes and leadership conferences regarding social security, worker’s compensation and insurance claims. Pat attended several of those classes at the University of Iowa.
Pat was very active in local and national politics. He was involved in many, many political campaigns and was elected as a delegate in 1976, to the National Democratic Convention held in New York City as a delegate for Jimmy Carter. He kept in touch with President Carter and his wife Rosalynn until they passed away.
He was very involved with his local community. Some of the organizations Pat supported include Boy Scouts of America, Founder and Institutional Representative of Troop #94, Elected to the Board of Northeast Iowa Council B.S.A., the United Way Fund Raising Committee, United Way Board of Trustees, Vice President of the United Way, Medical Associates H.M.O. Board, Greater Dubuque Development Commission, Dubuque Civil Service Commission Chairman, Foundation Board of Northeast Iowa Technical Institute and was a trained mediator for Small Claims Court.
Pat married the love of his life, Karen Sear on August 26, 1961, at Nativity Church. His family meant the world to him, and Pat was a great role model for them. In his free time, Pat enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and golfing. He was also an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.

John M. Smith
John Michael Smith, 89, of Epworth, Iowa passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Mercy One Medical Center in Dyersville, Iowa.
Friends and relative of John may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, IA, where a prayer service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held after noon on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at the funeral home.
Services for John will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at St. Patrick’s Caholic Church in Epworth, IA with Rev. Michael Shueller presiding. Burial will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Epworth with full Military honors by the Epworth American Legion John White Post #650.
His life revolved around the three F’s-Faith, Family and Farming. He enjoyed a fun game of cards, a Bailey’s Irish cream at The Feedstore and a chance to tell stories of the old days.
He was born October 27, 1935, in Dubuque County, son of J. Cyril and Clara (Hannan) Smith. He is a graduate of Epworth High School. On October 15, 1960 he was united in marriage to Lois McDermott at St. John’s in Placid, Iowa. She preceded in death on August 13, 2019. The couple farmed in the rural Epworth area. John also was employed at John Deere Dubuque Works for 31 years.
He was an Army Veteran, having served in the Army for two years. He was a member of the Epworth American Legion-John White Post #650 as well as a very active member of St. Patrick’s Parish in Epworth.
He is survived five children, Michael (Susan) Smith of St. Charles, MN, Sara (Mike) Brehm of Peosta, IA, Marty (Lori) Smith of Epworth, IA Peter (Rebecca) Smith of Cascade, IA, and Jenny Sandeen of Dyersville, IA; 33 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; his brother and sisters, Ray Smith of Plainfield, IN, Phyllis (Gary) Astgen of East Dubuque, IL, Kathy (Wally) Link of Dyersville, IA, Rita Benter of Dubuque, IA; in-laws, Darlene Sexton of Dubuque, IA, Bill Brown of Solon, IA, Donna Smith of Dubuque, IA; Dorrance (Verna) McDermott, Katie McDermott both of Epworth, IA, Phyllis (Darris) Goerdt of North Liberty, IA and Julie Casey of Placid, IA.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Eugene Smith, Ann Brown, Dennis Smith, Pat Smith, and Dick Smith; two brothers-in-law, Neal McDermott, Dennis McDermott and Donald Casey; and sisters-in-law, Mary Catherine McDermott in infancy, and Chere Smith.

John E. Combs
John E. Combs, 74, of Dubuque, died Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the Unity Point Health-Finley Hospital in Dubuque.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.
The Funeral Service for John will be at 10:00 am on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Dianne Grace officiating. Burial will be at Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque. Full military honors will be rendered by American Legion Post #6.
John was born November 22, 1950, in Blue Earth, MN, the son of J.C. and Irene (Steinbach) Combs. On June 19, 1976, he married Nettie I. Miller at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Dubuque.
John graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1970 and enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War Era.
He worked for John Deere in Davenport and Dubuque for 31 years.
John had a lifelong love of hunting, especially deer hunting. An avid sports enthusiast, he enjoyed both playing and watching sports. He spent many hours golfing, playing softball, and bowling. John was proud to serve on the alumni board for his graduating class, helping to organize luncheons and events to keep his classmates connected. He was also a dedicated and active member of the VFW, where he gave his time and support to fellow veterans and his community.
Survivors include his wife, Nettie Combs; one son, Jason Combs of Dubuque; three sisters, Janet Grass, Jolene Petesch, Julie (Dennis) Guglielmotto; one brother, Greg Combs; siblings-in-law, Sally Miller, Jan Miller, and Charlie (Marie) Miller; brother by choice, Dennis Van Cleve, and the rest of the Van Cleve family; along with many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, William Brown; and three brothers-in-law, Curt Petesch, Art Miller Jr., and Bob Miller.

Betty J. Frick
Betty J. Frick, age 74, of Dubuque, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025. In keeping with Betty’s wishes, there will not be a public service. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street is assisting Betty’s family.
Betty was born on March 9, 1951, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of George and Mary “Betty” (Kemp) Herman.
Betty worked in the mail room at the Telegraph Herald for 30+ years until her retirement. Her family was extremely important to her. Betty loved spending time with all of her family members, even the furry four legged ones. She was a wonderful mom and sister and we will miss her more than words can say.

Carmaletta M. Jaeger
Carmaletta M. “Carmen” Jaeger, age 84, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Stonehill Care Center. To celebrate Carmen’s life, family and friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 4:45 p.m., on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street. Funeral services will be at Behr Funeral Home following the visitation at 5:00 p.m., with Rev. Stephanie Schlimm officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery at a later date.
Carmen was born on September 14, 1940, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Scott, Sr. and Ottilia Leuenberger.
Carmen was self-employed doing Senior In-Home Care for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church. Carmen had many hobbies including fishing, hunting and morel hunting. She also enjoyed Bingo, and bowling and cards, especially Euchre. Stockcar racing was a favorite activity, especially when she was driving in the Powder Puff Races. Carmen was all country and had “gypsy” blood that caused her to move to various homesteads in her lifetime. Carmen was “one of a kind”, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The stories of Carmen will live on for her family and friends.

Leo F. Bly
Leo F. Bly, age 70, of Rialto, CA, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, peacefully in his sleep while recovering from cardiac surgery. To celebrate Leo’s life, private family services were held. Behr Funeral Home is assisting Leo’s family. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.Leo was born on March 2, 1955, in Dubuque, son of Duane and Shirley (Thier) Bly.
He graduated from Wahlert High School and Loras College in Dubuque before moving to California. Leo met Barbara Jackson and they were married in 2000. She sadly passed away after only 9 years of marriage. He has been residing in California for over 40 years.
Leo was employed by several service oriented organizations. During that time he traveled to Egypt, Turkey and Machu Pichu in Peru. He purchased books written by authors who wrote about those countries and had them signed by the authors at their book signing. A collection of over 100 of his books will be donated to the appropriate places.
For the past 10 years, Leo was a realtor at Dynasty Real Estate in Rialto, California.

James Meier
James “Jim” Meier, 78 of Bellevue, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025. Visitation will be from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm (Noon), Thursday, July 24, 2025 at Hachmann-Mier Funeral & Cremation Service in Bellevue. Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 pm (Noon) at the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors conducted by Bellevue American Legion Post #273 will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellevue.
Patricia Harris
Patricia “Patty” (Folger) Harris, 75, of Marion passed away suddenly on July 16th, 2025.
Patty was born in Dubuque on May 6th , 1950. She is the daughter of Merlyn “Pat” Folger and Catherine (Davis) Folger.
She is survived by her sister Judy Folger of Dubuque, children Steve (Dana) Harris of Iowa City and Amy (Ryan) Harris Flatt of Marion, Grandchildren McKenna, Connor, Jena, Gavin, Skyla, and Jesse, nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat Lily.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Ron Folger, Bill Folger, and sister-in-law Trish Folger.
A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
Mildred M. Wente
Mildred M. Wente, 92 , of New Vienna, Iowa passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 2 – 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Kramer-Morris Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa. Visitation will continue Monday morning from 9 – 10 a.m. at Kramer-Morris Funeral Home prior to funeral services.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2025, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna, Iowa, with burial following in the church cemetery. Rev. David Schatz will officiate.
Mildred was born on February 13, 1933, in New Vienna, Iowa, daughter of Leander and Isabella (Kramer) Koch. She went to Hickory Valley School and graduated from New Vienna High School. She worked at Kerper’s General Store in New Vienna for several years. She married Ralph Wente on September 30, 1961, in New Vienna, Iowa and moved half mile down the road to the Wente family farm. Together they farmed the family farm in the New Vienna area, being the 4th generation to do so. In 2007, they were given the Historical Preservation Award for their farmhouse. Her grandson, Curtis, is now the 6th generation on the family farm. She was able to stay on the farm until she was 90, thanks to her granddaughter, Colleen. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, and gardening. She was a woman of faith and loved saying the rosary throughout her day.
Survivors include her children: Al (Maria) Wente, Neil (Mary) Wente both of New Vienna, IA, Karen Wente, Karla (Pat) Krogman both of Davenport, IA, Sara (Ron) Stout of Pekin, IL, and Tina (Zack Kurcharski) Lippe of Cedar Rapids, 12 grandchildren: Curtis (Sara), and Colleen (Jon Savolt) Wente of New Vienna; Katie (Jon) Wilker of Sherrill, Ashley (Tristan) Miles of Dubuque, Brooke of Dubuque, and Ryan Wente of New Vienna; Nathan, Ben and Isabella Krogman of Davenport, and Dakota Stout of Carbon Cliff, IL, Claire and Adelyn Kurcharski of Cedar Rapids; great-grandchildren: Korra, Amelia, Torin, Nolan, and Cadyn, and a sister, Dorothy (Bob) Pitz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; parents, parents-in-law, William and Catherine Wente; son-in-law. Aaron Lippe; sister, Esther (Earl) Brehm; in-laws: Walter Wente and Grace (Leo) McBride.

James E. Schumacher
James E. Schumacher, 76, of Galena, IL, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Midwest Senior Care Center in Galena. A gathering will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Furlong Funeral Chapel in Galena, followed by a parish service beginning at 7 PM. Military honors will be provided by Galena VFW Post #2665 and American Legion Post #193 after the service. The burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Galena on Tuesday.
He was born on January 3, 1949, in Dubuque, IA, to Ernest Jr. and Dorothy (Lallamann) Schumacher. Jim graduated from Galena High School in 1966. He worked for the Illinois Central Railroad until he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served from 1969 to 1971. After his honorable discharge, he worked at the Savanna Army Depot and John Deere Dubuque Works before spending over 25 years at Signcraft Screenprint, Galena, where he eventually became Floor Supervisor. Jim married Pamela White on February 8, 1975, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Galena. They were married for 45 years until Pam’s passing in 2020. In his youth, Jim was an exceptional athlete, particularly known for his skills as a dominant baseball pitcher, averaging 15 strikeouts per game while playing for the Galena Merchants Baseball Team. After his military service, he continued to play on various fast-pitch softball teams for many years. In 2022, Jim was inducted into the Northwest Illinois Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of his athletic achievements. He was a devoted fan of the Indianapolis Colts and enjoyed walleye fishing and boat rides on the Mississippi River. Jim was also a passionate supporter of the Galena Pirates, often attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.
He is survived by his son, Matt Schumacher, and his daughter, Megan (Casey) Kaiser, both of Galena. He also leaves behind four beloved grandchildren: Myles and Eli Schumacher, and Chloe and Austin Kaiser. Additional survivors include brothers-in-law Jerry Kieffer of Galena, Dale (Roxanne) White of Galena, and Gary (Rose) White of Helena, MT; sisters-in-law Sandra Brodrecht of Marion, IA, and Cheryl White of Galena; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepfather, Bernard Peschang, sisters, Janice Kutsch and Mary Ann Kieffer, brothers-in-law, David White, James White, Gene Brodrecht, Ronald “Shorty” Kevern, sister-in-law, Carol Kevern, and a nephew, Jason Kevern.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Midwest Senior Care Community for their exceptional care provided to Jim over the past two years, as well as to Hospice of Dubuque, especially Jessica, for their kindness and compassion that will never be forgotten.

Rosemary G. Brimeyer
Rosemary G. “Rosie” Brimeyer, 87, of Dubuque, IA, formerly of East Dubuque, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at her residence at Eagle Pointe Place.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque, with Pastor Matt Beers officiating. Burial will follow in the East Dubuque Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25, at the funeral home.
Rosie was born on October 5, 1937, in East Dubuque, the daughter of Vincent L. and Marie A. (Loeffelholz) Hoftender. She was united in marriage to Hubert R. “Jr.” Brimeyer on April 12, 1980, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Dubuque. Known fondly as Jr. or Herb, her husband of 45 years was her loving companion and greatest supporter.
Rosie was a trailblazer—one of the first female foremen at John Deere Dubuque, where she worked for 25 years with strength, leadership, and quiet determination. Her legacy there endures in the many lives she touched and the doors she helped open.
She found joy in gardening, tending her flowers, shopping, and especially in the kitchen. Rosie’s cooking and baking were legendary. Her holiday celebrations—especially Christmas—were unforgettable, filled with favorite dishes she lovingly prepared for each person, stunning decorations, and an abundance of thoughtful gifts. Family and friends knew that Rosie’s home was a place of warmth, generosity, and celebration. She made every gathering special, and everyone was welcome at her table.
She is survived by her husband, Hubert; four children: Kim (Charlie) Stanton of Peosta, IA, Lynne Baumhover of Dubuque, IA, Charles (Lisa) Shepherd of East Dubuque, IL, and Tracey Shepherd-Briggs of Galena, IL; 14 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: LeRoy Hoftender, Vincent “Jiggs” Hoftender, Shirley (Rick) Gassman, Gerald “Moe” (Lynn) Hoftender, Pat Gross; and sister-in-law, Deanna Hoftender.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter Robin Deutmeyer; her brothers, Robert, Donald, and Raymond Hoftender; sisters-in-law Virginia Hoftender and Modesta “Sis” Hoftender; and brother-in-law Roger Gross.
Rosie was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. Her family is grateful to the staff at Eagle Pointe Place and Hospice of Dubuque for their kind and compassionate care.

Clare J. Snodgrass
Clare James Snodgrass, 88, of Dubuque, passed away July 17, 2025.
In keeping with his wishes, a visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00p.m., Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road, Dubuque. Military Honors will immediately follow at 5:00p.m.
Clare was born on December 13, 1936, to Roland and Lula (Odel) Snodgrass in Dubuque, Iowa.
He attended Dubuque Senior High School, graduating in 1955.
Clare was united in marriage to Joan (Vyverberg) Snodgrass on February 20, 1960. The two shared 65 wonderful years together.
Clare served in the United States Navy from 1955-1959. He was a pattern maker on a repair ship with the Navy.
He worked as a carpenter for over 40 years.
In his free time, Clare was a great outdoorsman. He loved fishing and camping and spent many years on the Mississippi River. In his later years, he cherished wintering in Mission, Texas with Joan.
Clare is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Debra (Ray) Ellwood of Marion, IA, Daryl Snodgrass of Washington State, David (Ann) Snodgrass of Dubuque, and Donald (Lynn) Snodgrass of Omaha, NE. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jeffrey, Angela, Raychel, Adam, Amanda, and Tristen. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Dale Snodgrass, and Ken Snodgrass.

Marlene A. Hagemann
Marlene A. Hagemann of New Vienna, IA died on July 16, 2025, at Luther Manor after battling Parkinson’s disease.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 25, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:45 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Georges Midiangu will officiate with Rev. Carl Ries concelebrating.
Marlene was born on August 20, 1953, daughter of Emil and Marian (Drees) Stelken of Farley, Iowa. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1971. Marlene worked for Mercy Hospital in Dyersville and then Dubuque with her longest tenure in the Physical Therapy Department.
On June 19, 1976, Marlene married David Hagemann at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa. Marlene and Dave made their home in New Vienna, Iowa where they raised their son Steve. Marlene spent her free time spoiling her nieces and nephews with tea parties and funny socks.
She is survived by her husband, Dave of New Vienna; and son, Steve of Garnavillo; and grandchildren; siblings: Sr. Janet Stelken PBVM of Dubuque, Linda (Wayne) Vorwald of Farley, Mary Recker of Dyersville, Joyce (Pat) Portzen of Adel, Rick Stelken of Farley, Mark (Janet) Stelken of Dyersville, Steve (Lynn) Stelken of Bankston; in-laws: Jack Dardis of Farley, Mary Hagemann and Kevin (Diane) Hagemann of Dyersville, Jim (Deb) Hagemann of New Vienna and Donna (Rick) Kratz of Prescott, AZ.
Marlene is preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Bill Stelken, Joanne Dardis and Todd Stelken; in-laws: Herb Recker and Jolene Stelken; parents-in-law, John and Veronica Hagemann.
Marlene’s family would like to express their deep appreciation for the staff at Luther Manor and Hospice of Dubuque, especially Buffy. Also, a thank you to her special friends, Donna and Mary.

Algean V. Nemmers
Algean V. (Berthel) Nemmers, sister, mother, a beloved grandmother and great grandmother and friend passed away on July 17 2025, at the age of 91 in Bellevue, Iowa.
Funeral Mass for her and her son Duane “Minnow” Nemmers will be 11:00 am, Saturday, July 19, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bellevue. Visitation will be 9:00 am – 10:30 am, prior to Mass at Hachmann-Mier Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellevue.
Algean was born on December 3, 1933, the daughter of Alex and Bernice (Pollock) Berthel. She graduated from LaMotte Holy Rosary High School in 1951. Algean married Virgil Nemmers, July 18, 1953 at St John’s Catholic Church in Andrew, he passed on January 19, 2008. Together they raised 5 children.
Algean worked at Younkers, The Big D and Eska Company later retiring to enjoy traveling with Virgil, volunteering at St. Joseph’s Daycare and Marquette’s hot lunch program, spending many hours at the family cabin; enjoying their pontoon on the Mississippi River, she loved playing euchre with family and friends and baking cookies in her kitchen for her grandkids.
Survivors include her children, Larry (Deb) Nemmers, Mary Beth (Rick) Michels all of Bellevue Iowa and Joe (Judy) Nemmers of Des Moines, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great expecting; sister in-laws, Pat Berthel, Beverly, Leota and Lois Nemmers and a brother in-law Dale Wilming.
Algean was preceded in death by her husband Virgil, her parents, her sisters, Lyda (Pete) Herrig and Mary Lou (George) Mottet, a brother Donald Berthel, two son’s Darrell and Duane Nemmers, brother in-laws Alvin, Loras, Robert and Joseph Nemmers and a sister-in-law Shirley Wilming.

Jean M. Frederick
Jean M. Frederick was placed in God’s arms on July 16th, 2025 in Dubuque, Iowa. She was 92 years old.
The daughter of Elmer and Sarah Mae (Reese) Goke, Jean was born May 18, 1933 in Platteville, Wisconsin. On March 1, 1952, Jean married Elmer (Bud) Frederick in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Together they raised seven children in Dubuque, Iowa.
Jean was always quick to offer help to someone in need. She shined in her role as caregiver, especially for children. A perfect example of this was her time working at Bishop’s Buffet. In her position of Baby Hostess, she helped families with small children navigate the buffet and get settled at their table. She also worked for a number of years at Dubuque Stamp and provided child care in her home.
In her free time, Jean enjoyed taking care of her family, square dancing with the Tri-State Twirlers square dance club, and traveling. She and Elmer took many trips with the John Deere Retirees group, and after his passing she continued to spend the winter months down south with family. In recent years, Jean channeled her love of arts and crafts into making beautiful Diamond Art pictures, many of which she gifted to family and friends. Her playful sense of humor stayed with her til the very end.
Jean is survived by three daughters, Pam Brashear, Deb (Ed) Norman, and Susie (Kevin) Stocks, and four sons, Larry Frederick, Rick (Donna) Frederick, Dave (Misti) Frederick, and Mark Frederick, her brothers Donald Goke and Douglas Goke, sister-in-laws Peggy Goke and Evelyn Goke, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her legacy of love: 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren (plus one on the way), 1 great-great-grandchild (plus one on the way).
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Elmer, her parents Elmer and Sarah Goke, her in‑laws Roy and Minnie Frederick, her brothers Gary Goke and Gordon Goke, her sister Dolores Olson, and in-laws: Ole Olson, Bea Goke, Millie Hoerner, Bob Hoerner, Ruth Frederick, Eldon Frederick.
Jean’s family would like to thank the incredible care givers at Hospice of Dubuque for their attention and kindness over the past three months.
Services for Jean will be held at Egelhof, Siegert, and Casper Funeral Home in Dubuque with visitation on Sunday, July 20th from 3:00-7:00pm and Monday, July 21st from 9:00-10:15 with funeral service at 10:30. Procession to the chapel at Linwood Cemetery will immediately follow.
