Judith A. Peacock

Judith Alice Peacock, 81, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on December 13, 2021, at MercyOne Medical Center.

According to her wishes, no public visitation or service will be held. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, Dubuque, Iowa is assisting the family.

Judy was born on August 11, 1940, in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of Clarence and Bertha (Van Schaik) Peacock. She was employed as a housekeeper at the Midway Motel.

Judy was happiest being with family, playing bingo and going to the casino along with watching NCIS and her games.

She is survived by her children Dave (Cheryl) Peacock, Ron Williams, Deb (Ken) Huseman and Lorie (Rick) Lyons; fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; her special friends Aubrey & Claire her “Puppers” and “Tuffy” her cat.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jim, Jack, Clarence Jr., and Tom Peacock and her beloved son Thomas Freisinger.

The family would like to thank MercyOne Medical Center for keeping her comfortable and at peace.

 


 

Luella R. Hammerand

Luella Rose Hammerand, 85, of Sherrill, passed away Monday, December 13, 2021, at Unity Point Health-Finley Hospital in Dubuque.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, December 17, 2021 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.

The Funeral Service for Luella will be 10:30 am Saturday, December 18, 2021, at the Sherrill United Methodist Church with Rev. Emily Blue officiating. Burial will be in Sherrill United Methodist Cemetery.

Luella was born November 9, 1936, in Dubuque, the daughter of Frank and Mary Schmitt. On August 28, 1962, she married Virgil Hammerand in Church of the Nativity, Dubuque.

Luella was a long-time attendee of the Sherrill United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed helping Virgil farm and providing for her family, even through the toughest times.  Luella was an assistant 4H leader. She volunteered her time with the Dubuque County Fair Association for over 20 years.

Luella enjoyed playing Euchre, Rummy, watching Westerns.  She enjoyed country music and loved to dance.  Luella was a fabulous cake decorator and an amazing cook!  Her family would always enjoy her homemade pies and strawberry jelly.  She was liked and loved by everyone who knew her.

Survivors include her husband, Virgil of Sherrill; her five children, Jolene (Terry) Beebe of Platteville, Jeff (Tammy) Hammerand of Bankston, Jerry (Lois) Hammerand of Sherrill, Jim (Lynn) Hammerand of Epworth and Jeannie (Dewey) Domeyer of Delhi; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers, Verlyn “Fat” Schmitt of Bellevue and Eldon (Joan) Schmitt of Peosta and one sister, Neat Erickson of Dubuque.

Luella is preceded in death by her parents; five sisters and three brothers.

The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the Unity Point Health-Finley Hospital medical staff and the Sherrill Fire Department and EMT’s.

William J. Bowman

William James “Billy” Bowman, 48, of Bellevue, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at UPH-Finley Hospital in Dubuque.  Private Family Graveside Services will be conducted in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Bellevue.  Local arrangements entrusted with Hachmann-Mier Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue.

Billy was born February 5, 1973, the son of Harold and Sandra (Gard) Bowman.  He married Tonya Bachhofer on November 23, 1994.  Billy had a variety of jobs over the years, but the one he took the most pride in was working for the Heinz Company when they flew him to Seattle to share his innovative ideas for the company.  He was always fixing things, curious how things worked, very creative, quick-witted, sense of humor and had a passion for his pets.  Billy enjoyed metal detecting and finding old coins, playing drums, being a Lego wizard, and was very dedicated to his parents in their Golden Years.  He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him and will always be in our hearts.  Rest in peace dearest Billy

Survivors include his wife, Tonya; his mother, Sandra; siblings, Deb (Bill) Sieverding, Jim (Kristy) Bowman, and Kate Bowman; mother and father in-law, Angela and Donald Genthe; sisters and brothers in-law, Jessyka Rick, Randel Chapman, and Kimberlee (Mason) Achenbach;  several nieces and nephews; close friends; and his cats, Frankie and Nikki.

Billy was preceded in death by his father, Harold; and a sister, Christine and her husband, Marty Victor; and his father in-law, Brian Bachhofer and his beloved dog, Chassidy.

Jean M. Hoffmann

Jean M. (Kilburg) Hoffmann, 87, of Bellevue, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Mill Valley Care Center.  Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am, Thursday, December 16, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bellevue.  Visitation will be 9:00 am – 10:30 am, also on Thursday, December 16, 2021 prior to Mass at Hachmann-Mier Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue.  Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.

Jean was born April 14, 1934, the daughter of Pete and Augusta (Puetz) Kilburg.  She married Allan J. Hoffmann on June 10, 1953, he passed on April 26, 2004.  Jean worked on the farm with her husband, also worked for the hot lunch at St. Joseph’s Grade School and Marquette High School, was Parish Secretary for many years at St. Joseph’s, and cooked at Bellevue Senior Center until her health declined.  She enjoyed playing cards, BINGO, and everyone enjoyed her German Potato salad.  Jean will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her children, Gary (Sharon) Hoffmann of Calmus, Dale (Jan) Hoffmann of Prairie City, Randy Hoffmann of Bellevue, and Sherri (Harold) Heim of Manchester; grandchildren, Chad (Renae) Hoffmann, Cory (Tiffany) Hoffmann, Amanda (Kevin) Heims, Casey (Amanda) Hoffmann, Ashley (Fiancé Sam) Hoffmann, Danell (Andy) Steward, Dustin (Nicole) Hoffmann, Rob (Katie) Hoffmann, Deseree Horan, Jennifer (Tim) Kieffer, Candice (Josh) Richter, Mitchell (Tina) Hoffmann, Shelby (Mike) Fleming, Allan (Chelsey) Heim, and Leah (friend Josh) Heim; 32 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bernice Borman, Millie Haxmeier, Marcie Roling, Ruth Heiar, and a sister in-law, Velma Kilburg.

Robert L. Goodman

Robert L. Goodman, 91, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon Thursday, December 16 at GracePoint Church (formerly Third Presbyterian Church) with Pastor Jeff Durham officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon Thursday at the church.

Robert was born on July 28, 1930, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Edwin and Gertrude (Liddle) Goodman. He married Phyllis Hennings, his high school sweetheart, on April 21, 1951, at Third Presbyterian Church. She preceded him in death on October 22, 2008. Bob was a department manager for the Adams Company for over 35 years and served in the National Guard. He was an active member of Third Presbyterian Church (now known as GracePoint Church) and played on the church’s volleyball team. His passion however was his 60-year membership in the Dubuque Noon and East Dubuque Lions Clubs where he served as chairman of the service club Olympics and was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship award.

Surviving is his son, Doug (Julie) Goodman of Stoughton, WI; his daughter, Linda Goodman of Kieler, WI; his grandchildren, Amanda (Mike) Treacy and Jeremy and Kyle Goodman; his sister, Betty Carlson of Dubuque, IA; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Thomas of Delhi, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; his son, Duncan; his parents; his brothers, Roy (twin) and Alan; and his half-brothers, Eugene, and James.

Kitty Cavanaugh

Kitty A. (Mueller) Cavanaugh, 76, of Dubuque, died Monday, December 13, 2021, peacefully at Manor Care Health Services, Dubuque, IA.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., where the rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, Dubuque. Facemasks are required per CDC guidelines.

The funeral service for Kitty will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2021 at Church of the Resurrection, 4300 Asbury Road. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, 2736 Windsor Ave., Dubuque.

Mrs. Cavanaugh was a self-employed antique business co-owner with her late husband, David. She traveled and lived in many states operating antique shops before semi-retirement in 2003.

She was born on August 31, 1945, in Clinton, Iowa; daughter of Joseph H. Mueller and Isabelle B. (Brown) Mueller. She married David J. Cavanaugh on April 23, 1966.

She was a member of Church of the Resurrection and former member of the singles club and red hat society. Her favorite pastime was country and ballroom dancing. She had a loyal and heartfelt companionship with many of her pet dogs. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends in a game of euchre, especially when she got together with her sisters in their homes. Although Kitty is not physically here anymore, her energetic Irish wit and humor will be forever in our hearts.

Those left to cherish her memory include her four sisters; Patricia (James) Sievers of Hazel Green, WI., Kathleen (Fritz) Tuchel of Cedar Rapids, IA., Cheryl Wirth of Coralville, IA., and Constance (Denny) Cheung of Foster City, CA. Also surviving are three step-children; Steve (Ginny) Cavanaugh of East Dubuque, IL., Brian (Denise) Cavanaugh of Dubuque, IA., and Rebecca (Francesco) Indrio of Oakland, CA., and many great step-children, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David J. Cavanaugh, her parents, Isabelle B. (Brown) and Joseph H. Mueller, her sister, Janice (Mueller) Grotjohn, and a brother Steven, who died in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Dubuque Regional Humane Society, 4242 Chavenelle Rd., Dubuque, IA 52002 and/or Hospice of Dubuque, 1670 JFK Rd., Dubuque, IA 52002.

Ruth A. Yarborough

Ruth Ann Yarborough, 79, of Dubuque, died Sunday, December 12, 2021, at the Ennoble Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Dubuque.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth will be 10:00 am Friday, December 17, 2021, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Steven Rosonke as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque.

Ruth was born February 9, 1942, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Joseph L. and Leona Gerardy Jacobs.

She was a CNA for over 30 years at Luther Manor.

She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cross stitching, and crossword and word search puzzles.

Survivors include one daughter, Christine Ann (Joseph Edward “Eddie” Jr.) Morris of Thomasville, GA; one granddaughter, Christine “Cricket” Ann (Gary Scott Jr) Irwin; one grandson, Sergeant Joseph Edward (Katie) Morris, III, USMC; two sisters, Sharon Kay Jacobs and Elaine VanVleck, both of Dubuque; two nephews, TJ (Jen) Jacobs and Steve (Pam) VanVleck; and one great nephew Evan VavVleck; one sister-in-law, Annamarie Jacobs of Acworth, GA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Dale Jacobs, Robert Jacobs, and Joseph J. Jacobs, and one brother-in-law, Elwood VanVleck.

Theron L. Nothaft

Theron L. Nothaft, 88, of Dubuque, died on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at his home after complications from heart failure.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road, The Rev. Dr. Kevin Goodrich will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Theron was born on September 18, 1933 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, the son of Norma (Olson) and Frank Nothaft. He resided in Cashton, Wisconsin for years until moving to Dubuque with his parents and sibling. He loved to reminisce about his childhood days of living on the farm.

Theron was a graduate of Dubuque Senior High School. He retired from John Deere Dubuque Works after working there for thirty-four years. After retiring he worked as a part time driver for Hartig Drug Pharmaceutical Service.

Theron married Carole J. Mann at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Dubuque, and had two children, Laura and Lisa.

He married Alice L. (Kettering) on May 26, 1984 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

Theron was an outdoorsman. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed hunting for many years with his “own” special friends. His interests included long-bow hunting, fishing, and other outdoor sports. He enjoyed teaching his children to appreciate nature.

He was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Dubuque. He was a past member of the Dubuque Field archery Club.

He is survived by his wife, Alice; children, Laura (Troy) Lash, and Lisa (Roger) Higgins; five step children, Steven (Colleen) Kettering, Pamela (Norm) Thompson, Nancy Wortley, Michael Kettering and David (Jennifer) Kettering; grandchildren, Jessica and Sarah Oberbroeckling and Rachel and Audrey Lash; step- grandchildren, Jeremy Isenhart, Alison, Ryan (Nikki) Isenhart, Shaun Kettering, Hailey, Benjamin, and Casey Kettering; and 10 great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Mitchell Oberbroeckling; a son-in-law, Dick Wortley; and his brother, William Nothaft.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. John’s Episcopal Church.

His family would like to extend a special thank you to the 4th floor staff at the Finley Hospital and to Hospice of Dubuque. Special thanks to ALL of our caring neighbors especially, Harv and Kathy Pitz.

 


 

Robert B. Hutchinson

Robert Brainerd Hutchinson was born on September 24, 1951, and died peacefully at home in Hanover IL on December 10, 2021 after a long and valiant fight with cancer.  In honor of his wishes, there will be no formal ceremony and his ashes will be buried in the Casper Bluff Natural Cemetery, Galena, IL.

Robert was born in Los Angeles, CA. His family moved to New Zealand for several years before returning to live in New Jersey and finally settled in New York City.  He graduated Collegiate high school in Manhattan, before attending Reed College, finally graduating from Columbia University with an MA in Geology.

His true passion was the outdoors. He was never without hiking boots, running shoes, kayaking paddles and his beloved bicycles. He participated in several triathlons in New York State and Illinois.

While working for Brown Trout Publishing (CA), he wrote several books which ranged from a children’s book to a geological guide through the Grand Canyon.  He worked for Praeger Publishing (CT) as an acquisition’s editor until his retirement in 2016.

Robert will be missed by his many friends as a gentleman and a scholar.

Family who will cherish his memory include, his beloved wife, Ruth, son Blaed and mother Joyce. Loving sister Pam (Carl), niece Noor (Nick) and aunt Sandy. Cousins David, Ann, Susan, Debbie and Anne.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff of Hospice of Dubuque. Their dedication and care carried us through this most difficult time.

Stan D. Matthews

Stan D. Matthews, 79, of Bellevue, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Mercy One in Dubuque.  Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm, Monday, December 20, 2021 at Hachmann-Mier Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue.  Family will greet friends 11:00am until service time.  Burial will be in First Presbyterian Cemetery in Bellevue.

Stan was born November 25, 1942 in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Edward and Ilene (Ballard) Matthews.  He graduated from West Delaware High School in 1961 and also served in the Army National Guard.  Stan married Sharon S. Simpson on March 8, 1964, she passed on October 4, 2013.  Stan worked for Greyhound Busing, Pepsi Delivery, and retired after 39 years with Flexsteel in 2007 as a truck driver.  He enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, visiting with people, and listening to music and attending events at Ohward Fine Arts Center in Maquoketa.  Stan and his brother Dave enjoyed many trips together after they both retired, visiting many places from Stan’s working years.  Stan was dedicated to his children and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his children, John (Muna) of Hiawatha, Stephen of Bellevue, Richard of Dubuque, and Will of Bellevue; a brother, David Matthews of Hiawatha, a sister in-law, Janeen Matthews of Woodbridge, Virginia; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brother Michael; and a sister in-law, Sheryl Matthews.

A memorial fund has been established in Stan’s memory.

Norman G. Fensterman

Norman G. Fensterman, 76, of Dubuque, passed away peacefully at Dubuque Specialty Care on Saturday, December 11, 2021.  A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.  Local arrangements are entrusted at Hachmann-Mier Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue.

Norman was born Nov 21, 1945 to Orval and Dorothy F. (Blaker) Fensterman in Waterloo, Iowa. He was the  3rd of 7 children. Norman graduated from Ed-Co High School and then attended diesel mechanic school.  He served his country in the United State Air Force 1965-1969.  Norman then worked at John Deere Dubuque Works as a tractor mechanic.

Survivors include his children, Mark (Jeni) Fensterman, Justin Fensterman, and Sue Ann (Brent) Mollenhauer; grandchildren:   Isaiah, Bailey & Kaden Fensterman, Vivienne & Olivia Fensterman and Ava, Emma & Will Mollenhauer;  a sister-in-law, Karyl Fensterman, a sister Darla Kickbush, brothers John (Kathy) Fensterman, Charlies (Margie) Fensterman, sisters Marsha Fensterman and Diane Strain.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother David and brother-in-law  William Strain.

Sister Corinne Kutsch

Sister Corinne (Lorraine) Kutsch, OSF, 98, of Dubuque, died Wednesday, December 8, 2021.

The Rite of Final Committal was held at the Clare House Chapel, Mount St. Francis Center at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021. Natural burial will be held at Sisters of St. Francis, 3390 Windsor Ave., Dubuque, IA 52001. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Mount St. Francis Center. She was born on July 17, 1923 in Dubuque to Clarence and Irene (Nierling) Kutsch.

She entered the Sisters of St. Francis August 25, 1940 and made final profession of vows August 10, 1946. Sister received her BA in Elementary Education from Briar Cliff College, Sioux City, IA. She ministered as an educator in Iowa at Templeton, Garnavillo, New Hampton, and Dyersville. In Illinois she was missioned at Midlothian; St. Ann, Hazel Crest; and Lansing and in Minnesota at St. Cloud. She also served at Alverno Apartments and as the Activity Coordinator of Stonehill Care Center both in Dubuque.

Sister is survived by her brothers, Charles Kutsch and Reverend Eugene (Gene) Kutsch; a brother-in-law Alfred Breitbach; nieces and nephews, and her Franciscan sisters.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Rita Breitbach and Adele (Paul) Kass; and a sister-in-law, Connie Kutsch.

Donald J. Pettit

Donald James Pettit, 86, of Dubuque, IA, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Bethany Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Dubuque, with Fr. Steven Rosonke officiating.  Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.

There will be no public visitation.  The Miller Funeral Home of East Dubuque, IL is serving the family.

Don was born on December 31, 1934 in Farmersburg, IA, the son of Walter and Lorena (Fett) Pettit. He was a graduate of McGregor High School, the class of 1952. He was united in marriage to Alice T. Leibold on May 17, 1960 at St. Mary’s Church in East Dubuque.

Don enlisted in the United States Army in 1955. He was then employed by Interstate Power Company.  Don made many friends, working on substations throughout the Midwest.  He retired as Purchasing Agent from Interstate in 1998.

Don was an active member of the YMCA serving on the board for many years, along with the Y’s Men’s Club.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.  Don was a member of the Izaak Walton League, Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited, and a previous member of Lacoma Golf Club. He managed the Izaak Walton Trap Shooting Club in Dubuque for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Alice; children, Tammy (Kim) Klavitter of Dubuque, Vicki (Kent) Dierks of Denver, IA, Kara (Steve) Pettit-Bloch of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Dionne (Jason) Hughes of St. Donatus, IA; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Dale Pettit of Prairie Du Chien, WI; in-laws, Elaine (Denny) Rath, Toots Leibold, Margaret Buse, Mary Lu Leibold, Sheila Meyer, Paul (Mary Jean) Leibold, Val (Goodie) Leibold, and many nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lorena, son-in-law, Jay Easter, infant granddaughter, Margaret Easter, in-laws, Helen (Ed) Droessler, Phillip Leibold, Kate (Pete) Temperley, Roseanne (Bob) Schmitt, Peter Leibold, Dave Buse, John (Carol) Leibold, Jim Leibold and Linda Leibold.

Daniel P. Hanten

Daniel P. Hanten, 83, of Dubuque, IA passed away on December 9th, 2021, at Stonehill Communities in Dubuque.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 12th, 2021, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a wake service will be at 3:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 13th, 2021, at St. Joseph The Worker with Father Jim Goerend officiating. Family and friends may gather after 9:00 a.m. Monday, at the church. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Dan was born on February 23, 1938, in Dubuque, IA, to Raymond and Salome (Walsh) Hanten. He attended elementary school at St Joseph’s Key West, IA, Loras Academy and Loras College

He married Barbara M. Hoffmann on January 19, 1963, at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Dubuque. She preceded him in death on November 11, 2013. He worked for John Deere Dubuque Works until his retirement.

Dan cherished his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them.  A lifelong lover of music, he played the trumpet in The Hanten Family Orchestra.  He was an original member of the Older and Bolder Band, playing at area nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

He is survived by his four Daughters, Denise (Daryl) Sauerbrei of Urbandale, IA, Deborah (Phillip) Meyer, Janet (Dan) Krewson, and Carolyn (John) Timmerman, all of Dubuque. One Son, Allan (Kimberly) Hanten, of Dubuque.  Grandchildren Samantha (Adam Spahn), Alec (fiancée Samantha Kokjohn), Trevor (Camila) Meyer, Morgan (Jake) Doty, Marissa Meyer, Lauren Winter, Cole Winter, Alyssa (Alex Reiter) Hanten, Kayla (Brian Gilles) Hanten, Danielle Timmerman, Shaun Timmerman and Shane Timmerman. Great-Grandchildren Diego Meyer and Marley Doty.  His sister Geraldine Goodman. Sisters-in-law Patricia Hanten, Pearl McMahon and Mel Hoffmann along many nieces and nephews.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Emily Timmerman; brothers and sisters Loras Hanten, Eugene Hanten and Mellita (Bob) Pommerich; brother-in-law Tom Goodman, and many  brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to those who cared for Dan while at Stonehill Communities in Dubuque, especially his best friend Felishia Ruden, his girlfriend Rachael Houselog, his secret lady Lisa Farber and his favorite nurse Kim Kammerude.

 


 

Charles L. Seipp

Charles L. “Chuck” Seipp, 70, of Dubuque died peacefully on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at UnityPoint Health- Finley Hospital after a short illness.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 11, at the Church of the Resurrection. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:30- 7:30 p.m., Friday, December 10, at the Church of the Resurrection, where a wake service will begin at 7:30 p.m. A visitation will also be held from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m., Saturday at the Church of the Resurrection. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road is entrusted with arrangements.

Chuck was born on May 5, 1951, in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Leo and Mary Jane (Loes) Seipp.

After graduating from Dubuque Senior High School in 1969, he worked at the Adams Company where he met the love of his life, Mary Heim. On September 2, 1972, they were united in marriage at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Chuck retired as a machinist from John Deere in 2003 after 32 years of service. He also owned and operated Expressions of Faith with his wife, Mary for 21 years.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing his whole life and took up the sport of golf after retirement.  He greatly enjoyed spending time with his golf buddies.  He also helped a friend lay flooring for 15 years after he retired. Chuck was able to enjoy a rich and fulfilling retirement.

Chuck was a faith-filled, humble, selfless man. He rarely turned down anyone’s request for help and never expected anything in return. He was an active member of Resurrection with CEW and Parish Festivals.

Chuck was a role model to all. Chuck was a Godparent and Confirmation Sponsor to many family and friends. He was a devoted volunteer at Dubuque County Right to Life. He donated over 30 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross over the years.

Chuck delivered the Dubuque Advertiser in the neighborhood for over 25 years. He truly enjoyed getting to know people. Over the years his neighbors eagerly anticipated his arrival. He loved his grandkids more than anything, and they loved him. He regularly attended their performances, sporting events, and school activities. Chuck enjoyed woodworking in his spare time, and other projects.  Chuck greatly enjoyed the outdoors.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Mary Seipp; Children, Jenny (Doug) Send and their children Joseph, Marissa, Gianna, Maria, Jacinta, Felicity, and Miriam; Brendan (Crystal) Seipp and their children Lila, Zoe, and Xavier; Michael (Nicole) Seipp and their children Gabrielle and Christian; a brother Stephen (Ruth) Seipp; a sister, Barb (Rick) DeMaio; brother-in-law, Tom (Carol) Heim, all of Dubuque; and sister-in-law, Socorro Heim, of Rockford, IL.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Kenneth and Irma Heim; and brother-in-law, James Heim.

A Charles L. Seipp Memorial Fund has been established.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Nurses on the 5th floor at The Finley Hospital and to Fr. Phil and Fr. Philip at the Church of the Resurrection.
