Doris J. Noel
Doris J. Noel, 93, of Marion, formerly of Hopkinton, Iowa passed away June 23, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Visitation will be held from 9:15 – 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Hopkinton, Iowa.
A Mass of Christian Burial commences at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Hopkinton, Iowa with burial in Hopkinton Cemetery. Rev. Paul Baldwin will officiate.
Doris was born on March 14, 1930 in Racine, Wisconsin, the daughter of Harry and Amy (Bolton) Gibson. The family later relocated to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. As a young girl, Doris enjoyed roller skating, bike riding, and dancing. She was a people person and was a pro at the art of communication, which was reflected in her ability to form lasting friendships. Doris graduated from Immaculate Conception High School and many of her classmates remained lifelong friends.
She married Marcus Supple on September 8, 1951 in Cedar Rapids and they both felt it was the happiest time of their life, raising six great children. She took great joy in following Marcus’ ball games. Dancing was one of their favorite dates, going to the Armar Ballroom where all the top bands were playing. This love of music was passed on to their son Casey. Marcus and Doris were devoted to their children, giving them love and encouragement, teaching them to give their very best whether in academics, sports, or socially. Marcus passed away in 1991. Several years later, Doris met and later married Lee Noël. He was a much-loved member of our family for 15 years.
Doris lived a life of kindness, grace, and acceptance. She loved to laugh, have a good time, and enjoy a gin and tonic with two limes! What she lacked in height, she more than made up for in spirit and spunk. She loved fiercely, laughed frequently, and spread joy with her smile. Her integrity, perseverance, optimism, and acceptance lasted throughout her life. Those who knew her well would describe her as a very positive, fun-loving lady. She loved to dance and appreciated all genres of music.
Survivors include her children: Chris Richter of Marion, Carrie Supple of Marion, Mark Supple of Marion, Tricia (Jim) Manson of Earlville, daughter-in-law, Kris Supple of Hopkinton, grandchildren: Jessi, Katie, Hayley, Hannah, Heidi, Lee, Jerad, Aaron, Marcus, Adrianne, Erika, Emilee, Brittney, Allison, and Carly, and twelve great-grandchildren with one on the way, a brother, Fred (Joey) Gibson, in-laws: Roman Welter and Maude Gibson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Marcus in 1991 and Lee Noël, her sons, Casey and Scott Supple, siblings: Harry Gibson, Robert Gibson, Ellen Trosky, Irene Richards, in-laws: Rosemary Welter and Jim Supple.
She will be remembered for the lifelong gifts she leaves for all, faith in God, love, kindness, honesty, integrity, and a fun, joyful spirit. Doris leaves this world having lived a good life surrounded by the love of family and numerous friends. She valued and enjoyed each and every person she connected with.
Memorial tributes can be made in the form of charitable donations to the Hopkinton, Iowa, Public Library. In memory of Doris, do a kind gesture or volunteer your time to someone in need.

She was united in marriage to Chandler Kraus on November 30th, 1957 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church.
Mimi served on the Board of Directors at the family businesses, Dubuque Storage and Transfer and H&W Motor Express Company for several years. As part of the reunification of H&W Motor Express Company in 1975, with her only brother Urban R. Skip Haas as newly appointed president, Mimi created the “rising sun” company logo. The logo symbolized new hope and renovation as it approached its 50th year in business. For the next 30 years, the new logo adorned thousands of semi tractor trailers in honor of the next generation of service.

Terry R. Maas
Terry R. Maas, age 75, of Dubuque, IA, completed his earthly journey on June 21, 2023, at home while surrounded by his loving family. To honor Terry’s life, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, June 26, 2023, at the Church of the Nativity, 1225 Alta Vista in Dubuque, with Father Jim Miller officiating. The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Terry’s family.
Terry was born on January 23, 1948, in Dubuque, Iowa, a son to Raymond Leo and Anna Mae (Barton) Maas. He grew up with a zest for life, a strong work ethic, and a clear appreciation for the most valuable gift in this life- an unconditional love for others. Terry was blessed to meet his soul-mate while they were both in high school and was eventually united in marriage to Bonnie Burrows on January 7, 1967, in Galena, IL. They went on to be blessed with two children of their own to raise and nurture, as well as many wonderful years together. Terry was an accountant by trade and faithfully invested over 35 years with the Tracy Export Inc. until his well-earned retirement finally arrived in 2008. Terry understood that life must have balance as well and made sure that his family and friends within the community had access to his time and talents also. His affinity for animals was undeniable as he was not only a proud volunteer for the Dubuque Humane Society, but also generously played the role of foster parent to many pets throughout the years who simply needed someone to care for them temporarily. Terry was a weather spotter for many years and was always up to spend a few hours with his fishing pole in hand whenever the opportunity arose. But, first and foremost, family was where Terry’s greatest joy could be found. Whether it was a little time for food and fellowship with a delicious meal around the dinner table, a friendly game of cards after the plates were cleared, sitting down together to enjoy a good movie, or simply just spending quality time with the grandbabies and great-grandbabies, if Terry’s loved one’s were by his side, all was right with the world. Our hearts break beyond measure today at the mere thought that only the legacy and memories which Terry leaves behind will be able to attend to our needs moving forward, but we are eternally grateful for the 75 years that the Lord was generous enough to share Terry with us, and find comfort in knowing that he is now safe in his Savior’s arms until we all meet again in time. Thank you, Terry, for leading by example, loving without limit, and for always being exactly who we needed you to be…yourself. We love and will miss you more than words could ever accurately depict.
