Mary was born on December 28, 1940, in Dubuque, IA, a daughter to Laverne and Katherine (Kass) Heiberger. She met the love of her life, Claudio Vargas, while living in Chicago and the couple eventually made their way back to Dubuque to be close to family and raise their children of their own. Mary did spend some time working outside of the home throughout her working years. Andes Mint Company, John Deere Dubuque Works, Olmart Packaging, and Zebra Technologies are where she spent most of her time, but most recently she enjoyed her last years with the Tri-State Blind Society. Mary made many friends along the way and always valued her close friends and family above all. In her free-time, Mary and Claudio were avid bowlers and earned many trophies which still adorn her home today. They also enjoyed venturing out to their favorite restaurants, and an occasional trip to the casino was also on their list when time allowed. Mary loved her family more than words could describe and anytime her grandkids and great-grandkids were close by was always considered a successful and fruitful day in Mary’s eyes. We will miss Mary with all of our hearts and hope to find some peace in time through the legacy of love which she leaves behind. The world is surely a little lesser place today without our sweet Mary walking among us. Thank you, Mary, for leading with love and continually allowing your light to shine brightly in the world around you. We love you forever and hope that you and Claudio are catching up after your short time apart and we’ll treasure every memory until we meet again.
Those left behind to cherish the memory of Mary include,

A time for sharing of memories will be held at 5:30 p.m. Burial will be at a later date. The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Ron’s family.

He was a proud early advocate for conservation farming practices. He is best remembered for his patience, strong work ethic, trustworthiness, integrity, and unwavering determination. He was known to be an upstanding citizen within the community on every level. Ron led by example and was a man of few words, but when he spoke, you wanted to listen. Ron was blessed to meet his beautiful bride, Janet Weydert, in their early years, and the couple went on to be blessed with many wonderful years together and a family of their own to raise and nurture into adulthood. Ron appreciated the concept of balance in all areas of life as well. His adventurous spirit led he and Janet on many exciting journeys throughout their lives together. Traveling was among their favorite activities, but Janet always appreciated Ron’s other passions too. An afternoon on the golf course, an evening working on his latest creation in the woodshop, a little time restoring a classic car, time spent with friends, playing with grandchildren, or even a relaxing day out for a bike ride; all in all, Ron had many talents, interests and experienced life to the fullest. It’s beyond heart-breaking to think of moving forward without Ron by our side. The love, lessons, and memories which he leaves behind will surely help to heal the pain we experience today, but we know and trust that Ron fought the good fight and in that we can find peace. Thank you, Ron, for never allowing the world to get you down and reminding us that each day brings new blessings along with it. We will miss and love you more than you could imagine and hopefully your immaculately dry sense of humor is well received by the angels who will be watching over you until we all meet again.

Joe graduated from Loras College and continued to remain in regular contact with his friends from those formative years over the next 50 years. Joe met his soul-mate, Ann Marting, and their marriage was blessed with many wonderful years together, children and grandchildren to love and nurture, all while they dedicated their working years to running Splendid Valley Nursery. It’s difficult to describe the weight that burdens our broken hearts with the sudden absence of Joe from our daily lives. We would give anything for the story to continue, but we are also grateful for the 73 years we were blessed with his larger-than-life presence and positive influence on our lives. We know that Joe has missed his beloved Ann with an ever-increasing sense of loss and no doubt they are joyfully reunited again and catching up after their time apart. Thank you, Joe, for leading by example, loving beyond measure, and leaving behind a legacy that will be evident in all of the lives of those who knew and loved you for generations to come. Karen worked passionately side by side with her husband as co owners of their family businesses, Frentress Lake Marina and Top Block and Brick, both in East Dubuque, IL until her retirement. They enjoyed time spent cruising the Mississippi River on their boat and enjoying each other’s company any chance they could get.
Karen was a proud member of St. Mary’s Parish. She showed such a tender love for any and all animals who crossed her path, especially her beloved fur babies Daizie and Delilah. They sure will miss her taking them on rides through the drive through to get them their very own sandwich. She was such a selfless and loving woman. She would do anything for anyone. Many will miss her calm and comforting personality, she was always there to lend a listening, non-judgmental ear to anyone who may need it. Karen loved her time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed visits with her siblings and their families.
She was a true lover of classic television. She spent valued time with her husband; her in her recliner; him right beside her on the sofa as they shared stories and opinions over the latest news on the television. Christmas was her absolute favorite holiday. She loved to decorate and truly cherished the time spent with family gathered around her table. She will always be remembered for hosting the most wonderful Christmas Eve parties for her children and their families.
Karen will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 51 years, Daniel Petitgout; children, Timothy Petitgout, Laura (Scott) Leibfried, Ted (Elaina) Petitgout; grandchildren, Kaila, Isabella, Mason, Brice, Gracie, Aleya, Ellyana, Ivy Rose; great- grandchildren, Camdyn, Camiya, Aria; siblings, Linda (John) Hocking, Patricia (Frank) Ellenz, Rick Kruser, Barbara (Randy) McKeon, Sheila (Dick) Lange, Randy (Debra) Kruser, Tom (Deidre) Kruser; and numerous other cherished family members and friends.
