Milford L. Moore

Milford L. Moore, 93, of Dubuque, passed away Monday, December 28, 2020, at home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 4, at Holy Spirit Parish-Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rev. Mark Kwenin will officiate. Friends may greet the family from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 4, at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Rd., Dubuque. Milford was born May 15, 1927 in Bollinger County, Missouri, the son of Arthur and Florence (Price) Moore. He married Theresa Olinger on February 16, 1952 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on December 21, 2019. He was a member of Holy-Spirit Parish-Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Milford served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed with John Deere Dubuque Works for 37 years.

Milford is survived by his children, Robert Moore and Mary Jane Moore, both of Dubuque; his grandchildren, Richard Wharton Jr., Joanie (Miah) Miller, Michael (Tasha) Moore, Tricia (Alec) Roschen, and Tyler Gray; 7 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Marcella Klein and Florence Wall.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Joan Moore at 11 months old; and Betty (Richard) Wharton; and his siblings, Wayne, Lester, Paul, Willard, Margie, Pauline, Wanda, Hazel, and Mildred.

Cyril H. Lammers

Cyril H. “C.H.” Lammers, age 50, of Dubuque, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at his home. To celebrate C.H.’s life, private family services were held at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

C.H. was born on February 28, 1970, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of John G. “Jack” and Carol (Wissel) Lammers.

C.H. attended school at Bryant Elementary and graduated from Wahlert High School. He went on to attend the University of Wisconsin Platteville, and earned his Masters in Psychology from Loras College. C.H. was an avid reader and he loved spending time at the ocean. He was a self proclaimed scuba lover, shark enthusiast and tabletop role playing game lover. He had a great love of animals and adored his cat “Cricket”. We are deeply saddened at the sudden loss of C.H. in our daily lives, but know that he is now free of all of the health challenges he has battled so bravely these past years.

Alexander S. von Keltz

Alexander Scott von Keltz, 57, of Galena, IL passed away unexpectedly Tuesday December 29, 2020, at Unity Point Finley hospital, Dubuque, IA. In keeping with his wishes cremation rites will be accorded. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is in charge of arrangements.

He was born February 12, 1963, in Washington the son of Clifford and Nancy (Kosusnik) von Keltz. He graduated from Parker High School, Kamuela, HI and went on to attend The University of Hawaii / Kapiolani Community College where he earned his associate degree in science.

He enjoyed reading, motorcycling, sailing, body surfing, kayaking, and cooking.

He is survived by his mother Nancy K. Ginden, of Galena, his stepmother Cindy von Keltz, half-brother, Koa von Keltz, half-sister, Kepeka von Keltz, all of MI, three nephews, Ramavanti Dominy, of TX, Logan (Kiley) and Scott Feeney, both of Washington, and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford, a sister, Claudette D. von Keltz, and many aunts and uncles.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the physicians and nurses at Tri-State Dialysis, and the nurses at the emergency room and intensive care unit at Unity Point Finley hospital.

Margaret M. Hefel

Margaret M. (Breitbach) Hefel, age 97, of Dubuque, passed away at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2020, at home with her loving family by her side.  To celebrate Margaret’s life, family and friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street.  Due to COVID-19 concerns the number of people inside the building will be limited, all who attend will be required to wear a face covering, and are asked to please maintain social distancing practices.  To honor Margaret’s life, funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday with Rev. James J. Goerend officiating.  Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in North Buena Vista.

Margaret was born on January 28, 1923, in Balltown, Iowa, daughter of Victor and Monica (Schroeder) Breitbach.

Margaret attended school in Balltown and at Immaculate Conception in Dubuque, before going to work at Breitbach’s in Balltown until she married.  She was united in marriage to Joseph Hefel on June 8, 1948, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Balltown, Iowa.  They were blessed with a wonderful daughter, and 63 years of marriage, before Joe was sadly called home before her on January 6, 2012.  Margaret and Joe owned and operated the Atom Tavern in Dubuque for over 30 years, retiring in 1977, and moving to North Buena Vista.  In her free time, Margaret liked being outdoors fishing and traveling.  She and Joe enjoyed trekking through Europe a month at a time and cruising the Caribbean and Mediterranean.  One of the highlights of their travels was a fishing trip to the Arctic Circle.  Her faith was an important part of her daily life, and Margaret was involved with various church groups at Immaculate Conception Church.  We are deeply saddened at losing Margaret, but are thankful that we were able to have one last Christmas together as a family.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Charles R. Breitbach

Charles R. Breitbach, 78, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on December 26, 2020 at MercyOne Medical Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2021 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church with Rev. David Schatz officiating. Family and friends may gather after 9:00 a.m. at the church until time of mass. Burial with military honors by the Dubuque Marine Corps League will be at a later date at St. Francis Cemetery, Balltown, Iowa. Charles was born on December 14, 1942 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Leon and Claretta (Brimeyer) Breitbach; he was the lucky #13 of 15 children.

He attended Loras Academy and Wahlert High School. Charles is a US Navy Veteran serving from 1960 to 1964 and served in the naval reserve for 2 additional years.

He married Donna Mae Merkes on September 27, 1975 and celebrated 45 years of marriage.

He worked for John Deere in Dubuque for 30 years and was a member of the UAW Local 94. He as an avid Chicago Bears Fan, loved the outdoors, boating, meeting new people and playing the guitar.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Donna; children Rebecca (fiancé Mike McDonagh) Breitbach, Nicholas Breitbach, Beth (Scott) Oberhoffer and Ann Breitbach. A special granddaughter Eleanor “Ellie” McDonagh; two daughters from a previous marriage; siblings, Shirley Hansen, Carol O’Brien, Elizabeth Frommelt, John Paul (Fran) Breitbach, Gerald (Gayle) Breitbach, Lawrence Breitbach, Laura Jean (Donald) Kruse, Clare (Hugh) Gaston, Diane Breitbach and Elizabeth Breitbach.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents; a stillborn child; brothers Peter (Rosemary), Joseph and Phillip; sisters Anna (Jim) Kemp and Velma (Ozzie) Brahm. Brothers-in-law Gerald Winter, Bernie Musel, Jim Pink, Don Hansen, John O’Brien and Paul Frommelt; his father and mother-in-law Art and Dorothy Merkes.

The family would like to thank the medical staff at MercyOne for all their care and kindness for Charlie.

Robert L. Baumhover, Sr.

Robert ‘Bob’ L. Baumhover, Sr., 101, of Dubuque, died Monday, December 28, 2020, at the ManorCare Health Services in Dubuque.

The private Mass of Christian Burial for Bob will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Holy Spirit Parish – Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Steven Garner as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque. Bob was born August 12, 1919, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Frank and Mary (Buechel) Baumhover. On June 10, 1945, he married Dorothy Matz. She passed away on October 23, 1989. On November 23, 1992, he married Lorna M. Corpstein. She passed away on July 30, 2011.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during WWII.

Bob was employed as a plumber for Louis Buechel, retiring in October of 1983.

Bob was a member of Holy Spirit Parish-Sacred Heart; their Holy Name Society; American Legion Post #6; Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus #510; Boy Scouts of America; and the Power of Prayer. He enjoyed the Chicago Cubs, but his greatest joy was spending time with his great-grandchildren.

Survivors include one son, Robert “Bob” L. (Sue) Baumhover, II, of Epworth; one grandson, Robert (Amanda) Baumhover, III; three granddaughters, Stacy (Brett) Firzlaff, Sonya (Michael) Kelly, and Sheena (Nicholas) Adams; ten great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Trinity, Brooklyn, Preston, Caidon, Kylee, Chase, Landon, Skyler, and Tenley; one nephew, James (Darlene) Fuerstenberg.

Bob is preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; second wife, Lorna; his parents; two sisters, Annette (George) Fuerstenberg and Germaine Baumhover; one brother, Donald (Olive) Baumhover; two nephews, Robert Fuerstenberg and Ronald Baumhover and one niece, Joyce Huseman.

Richard F. Hueneke

Richard F. Hueneke, 90, of rural Bellevue passed away on December 27, 2020 at his home

Richard was born on January 29, 1930, the son of Diedrich and Elsa (Reeg) Hueneke. On February 3, 1951 he married E. Elaine Rupp at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Dubuque.

He loved helping his grandchildren with projects and giving them a hard time. He enjoyed woodworking making crosses and clocks and he was very proud to make cedar chest for his granddaughter’s weddings.

Richard farmed in the Bellevue and St. Donatus area for many years. He like to talk about the olden days and always had a story to tell.

He is survived by his four children Linda Hueneke, Brenda Hueneke, Paula Moeller and Keith Hueneke, nine grandchildren, Laurie (Jody) Hueneke Martens, Jennifer (Brett) Shaw, Lisa (Will) Hueneke, Katie (Casey) Steines, Susan (Tim) Devine, Nancy (Aaron) Evarts, Thomas (Rachelle) Moeller, Jill (Jacob) Hantelmann and Lynn Hueneke; along with fifteen great grandchildren. His daughter-in-law Barbara Hueneke; sister-in-law Mary Rupp and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Phillip; son-in-law Leon Moeller; his father and mother-in-law Frank and Leona Rupp; his sister Esther (Vernon) Baasch; his in-laws Evelyn White, Howard Rupp, Dorothy Coates, Merlin Rupp, Dale Rupp and Donna O’Neill.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Camp Courageous or Hospice of Dubuque.

Audrey J. Upmeyer

Audrey J. Upmeyer, 92, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday morning, December 23, 2020, at Clover Ridge Place in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. A private burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Solon, Iowa.

Audrey Jean Lenz was born on July 2, 1928 in Freeport, Illinois to Alvin H. and Ruth L. (Farnam) Lenz. She was a 1946 graduate of Freeport High School and a 1949 graduate of the University of Iowa School of Nursing. She married her college sweetheart William D. “Bill” Upmeyer on November 5, 1949 in Freeport, Illinois. Three children were born to this union, David, Cathryn and Steven.

Audrey worked as a registered nurse for many years and took great pride in being one of the first nurses who opened the Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa. She maintained relationships with many of her nursing colleagues from those years.

Audrey was a member of First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa, Registered Nurse Club, Mother’s Club, PTA and had delivered Meals-on-Wheels for many years. She enjoyed sewing and baking.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, David (Peg) Upmeyer of Grosse Pointe, MI, Cathryn (William) Rickard of Smyrna, NY, and Steven (Jane) Upmeyer of Indianapolis, IN; 4 granddaughters, Julie (Johnathan) Lewis, Dianne (Shawn) Larson, Amy (Josh) Smith, and Staci (Jack) Laski; 6 great-grandchildren, Meredith Jane Smith, Meyer Daniel Smith, Margot Jean Laski, Ffion Audrey Lewis, Nesta Wynn Lewis, and Clark Gilgamesh Larson; a brother, James (Susanne) Lenz of Chicago, IL; 3 nephews, Robert (Nancy) Upmeyer, Eric Upmeyer and Carl (Rhonda) Upmeyer; and a nephew-in-law Roger Beermann.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William “Bill” Upmeyer on June 15, 2016, and a niece Anne Beermann.

Theresa Cicciarelli

Theresa (Murphy) Cicciarelli, 80, died Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque, Iowa due to Alzheimer’s Dementia.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, December 31, 10:00 AM at St. Raphael Cathedral, Msgr. Tom Toale presiding. Friends may greet the family from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Thursday. “Terry” was born July 20, 1940 in Edgeley, North Dakota, the daughter of Kimball and Evata (Schmitt) Murphy. She married Dr. Frank Cicciarelli on May 11, 1963 in Edgeley, ND and, in June 1963, graduated from St. Theresa’s College, Winona, Minnesota with a B.S. degree in Nursing. Immediately after graduation she was appointed to a team leader position in the psychiatric unit of St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, MN working with Mayo Clinic physicians. In 1965 she and her family moved to Springfield, Illinois before moving permanently to Dubuque in 1966.

Terry’s spiritual values, confident initiative and engaging attitude propelled her many interests and commitments which mainly included service to family, friends, neighbors and community at large. While remaining devoted to her immediate family she helped several elderly or Ill neighbors, cared for several of the first Hospice of Dubuque patients, volunteered as a literacy mentor and was active on church social outreach committees. She was a member of the League of Women Voters, served on the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra Board and 14 years on the Dubuque Zoning Board of Adjustment, including a term as chairperson.

With an innate aesthetic sensitivity Terry pursued a love of art, architecture, literature, music and dance. She had an ear for and loved every kind of music from dancing to the polka bands in the beloved North Dakota of her youth to attendance at many performances of live opera in later life. Her crush on Elvis, as a teen in the 50’s, never went away. During a span of 50 years, the Dubuque Symphony concerts she missed can be counted on one hand. She loved it all: rock, jazz, folk, reggae, country, blues, R & B, swing, classical, opera. Reading and writing often carried her through the night into early morning. On top of her many artistic interests Terry was also an avid fan of professional tennis and auto racing. Go figure.

Terry is survived by her husband Frank of Dubuque; son Thomas with wife Deanna (VanLigten) and grandchildren Julian & Margo of Petaluma, CA; son Michael with wife Ann (Mihalakis) and grandchildren Anthony & Nickolas of Brownsburg, IN; daughter Monica of Dubuque; sisters Monica (Tim) Coder of Albuquerque and Mary Murphy of Seattle.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband’s parents.

Penny L. (Price) Cummings

Penny L. (Price) Cummings, 63, passed peacefully and painlessly on December 10, 2020, at her home in Sierra Vista, AZ. She had courageously fought through several bouts with cancer, but ultimately could not defeat the devastating after-effects of all the Chemotherapy that she had endured.

She was born October 7, 1957, the daughter of Donald and Barbarann (Gaber) Price. Penny attended primary school in Galena, IL, through the first grade, when her family moved to Elizabeth, IL. She graduated from Elizabeth High School (Go Terrapins) with the class of 1975. She attended University of Dubuque as a Foreign Languages major, and later received a degree in Psychology from Barat College in Lake Forest, IL.

Penny was a Human Resources manager for Baxter Pharmaceuticals for many years, which included relocations to Tucson, AZ, and Palm Springs, CA. After leaving Baxter, she operated a successful Human Resources consulting firm, which took her to many exciting domestic and international destinations.

Penny met her husband Patrick Cummings in Galena in 1997, on the night before her surprise 40th birthday party. The two of them later married and spent 22 wonderful years living on Wooster Lake in Ingleside, IL, before relocating to Arizona in 2019. They both loved the high desert climate in Sierra Vista, especially sampling all the local fruits and vegetables, and visiting the small local towns in the area.

Penny was a wonderful communicator, and the life of every party. She made friends easily and has acquaintances from all over the world who will miss her dearly. Family and friends meant everything to Penny, and she particularly relished times spent on the Mississippi river with friends and family. She was a prolific user of Facebook, even posting lengthy narratives from her hospital bed. She was an avid follower of the Elizabeth Terrapins Alumni group, which allowed her to keep tabs on all her friends and classmates back in Illinois.

Penny is survived by her husband Patrick, Sierra Vista, AZ; father, Donald Price, Dubuque, IA; brother, Scott Price (Debra), Galena; sister Dawn Freese, Platteville, WI; niece, Marie Freese, Madison, Wi; nephew, Andrew Freese, Kieler, WI; uncle, Merle Gaber, Dubuque, IA; Uncle Lloyd Price, New River, AZ; and many beloved cousins.

She was proceeded in death by her mother, Barbarann (Gaber) Price, stepmother, Beverly Miller, her grandparents, and many other aunts and uncles.

Celebrations of her life will be scheduled for the Galena and Ingleside areas of Illinois once we are assured that her relatives and friends can travel and congregate safely.

Mary F. Brady

Mary F. Brady, 86, of Dubuque, died Saturday, December 26, 2020, at her home in Dubuque .

A private funeral service for Mary will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Deacon Mike Ellis officiating. Mary was born October 8, 1934, in Cuba City, WI, the daughter of Edward and Imelda Bandfield Alt. She married John “Jack” Brady, he preceded her in death on May 12, 1981.

She received her Masters Degree from University of California. She was employed as an instructor for the Department of Defense schools for 37 years with the United States Government.

Survivors include her three sisters, Shirley (Bob) Lex of Dubuque, Eleanor Sanders of Reno, NV, Patricia Wiegel of Dubuque; and two brothers, Mike (Sandy) Alt of Cedar Rapids, and Leonard Alt of Milwaukee, WI.

She was preceeded in death by her parents; two brothers, Joseph and Patrick; her sister Evelyn Brecht; and two brothers-in-law; Bill Sanders and Carl Wiegel.

Marguerite L. (Hilkin) Vyverberg

Marguerite L. (Hilkin) Vyverberg, 90, of Bethany Home, Dubuque, peacefully went to heaven on Thursday December 24, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

A private family Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday December 30, 2020 at Saint Columbkille Catholic Church with Fr. David Schatz officiating. Peg was born on August 10, 1930 in Dubuque the daughter of John and Camille (O’Hea) Hilkin. She grew up in Dubuque attending Saint Columbkille Grade School and High School. She met the love of her life, Melvin Vyverberg, whom she married on April 9, 1952. He preceded her in death on September 5, 2015. Together they built their forever home on Oak Street where they raised their six children.

Peg’s greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and was best known for her turkey and dressing, homemade cinnamon rolls, and breads. She enjoyed reading, music, Hallmark movies, celebrating holidays, and was always ready for a game of euchre.

She will always be remembered as a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Family was first and Peg’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. Her legacy of religious faith, love of family, education and determination will live on through them. Her life, a precious gift, is one we will always treasure.

Left to honor her memory are her children and their families: daughter Barbara Beidler, her husband David, and their family Camy, Brad, Abby, and Carly Blackbourn: Kim and Travis Hauri; Kara and Anna Beidler. Son John Edward Vyverberg, his wife Julie and their daughter Emily Vyverberg and Connor Rucks. Daughter Debra Kass, and her husband Stan and their family, Nate, Katie and Braycen Kass, Dylan, Abriana, and Drake Berwanger: Caleb, Kari, Kylie, and Keegan Kass; Alex, Annie, Connor and Benjamin Kass and Grace McAllister; Mackenzie, Jason, Thomas Melvin, and Theodore Sertle. Son Richard Vyverberg, Joyce Wilson and their family Andrew, Jennifer, and Evelyn Wilson. Daughter Lauri Trannel, and her husband Jeff and their family Jordan and her fiancé Pat McCormick; Jaclyn, Andrew, and Baylor Ganshirt; and Erin Trannel. Daughter Lisa Zboril, and her husband David and their sons Tyler and Jacob. Her goddaughter, Judy Blasen.

Peg was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Mary Catherine Hilkin, Delbert Hilkin, Teresa Wagner, and Jerry O’Hea.

A Marguerite “Peg” Vyverberg memorial fund has been established.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Bethany Home for their loving and compassionate care over the last five years. Robert A. Current

Robert A. “Bob” Current, 74, of Monmouth, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Thursday morning, December 24, 2020, at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa.
A graveside service and burial celebrating his life will be held 11 A.M., Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Pence Cemetery, rural Baldwin, Iowa, with military honors. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 P.M., Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. It will be required to utilize face masks and to observe social distancing guidelines during the visitation and services.

Robert Allan Current was born on September 2, 1946 in Maquoketa, Iowa to Arlo L. and Winifred May (White) Current. He attended school in Baldwin and graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1966. Shortly thereafter he married Delores Ann Caes on September 24, 1966 in Baldwin, Iowa. He then served his country in the U.S. Army receiving an honorable discharge.

Upon returning home from serving his country, “Bob” worked at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa for 13 years and Red Jacket Pumps in Davenport for 18 years. He also farmed for the last 50 years in the Monmouth area until present.

“Bob” loved his family dearly and going to his grandchildrens’ sporting activities. He also loved his two dogs “Bode” and “Bear”. He was an avid fan of the the Green Bay Packers and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Additionally, he enjoyed hunting, taking his boat fishing, riding his ATV, going to the casino, having coffee with friends, rummage sales, playing cards and mowing the yard.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Delores Current of Monmouth, IA; children, Brian (Tonya) Current of Maquoketa, IA, Gary (Stacy) Current of Monmouth, IA, Brenda Current of Greendale, WI, Sherry (Mike) Snyder of Maquoketa, IA, Kathy (Peter) Streets of Wyoming, IA, and Lora (Jack) Smith of Lost Nation, IA; a sister, Sharon (Randall) Edwards of Kahoka, MO; 12 grandchildren, Codey and Courtney Current, Kristin and Kaytlin Current, Tiffiny, Nicole and Justin Snyder, Alyssa and Brianna Streets, Austin, Alex and Alivia Smith; 3 great-grandchildren, Ryder and Keegan Campbell, and Cora Current.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Richard and Darwin Current, sisters Connie Willey and Joyce Houston, and a grandchild Kayla Current.

Wayne W. Wohlers

Wayne W. Wohlers, 80, of Dubuque, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Rd., Dubuque, where friends may greet the family from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Derek Rosenstiel will officiate. Services will be live-streamed on the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home Facebook page. The family understands if you are unable to attend in person. Wayne was born August 10, 1940 in Bellevue, IA, the son of Ralph and Lula (Wiegert) Wohlers. He graduated from Andrew High School. Wayne married Betty Anderson on August 20, 1966 in Sparta, WI. They adopted two wonderful children, Bill and Annette. He was employed with the Dubuque Packing Company for over 30 years, and later worked for Hawkeye Care Center.

Wayne served in the Army Reserves for six years, and for 20 years in the National Guard with the 1st Battalion 133rd. He was a member of the Bellevue American Legion Post 273.

Wayne loved to go fishing, hunting, and camping. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and he enjoyed helping his uncle Eldon on the farm. Wayne was a great talker who loved visiting with people. He loved being with his family, and will be sadly missed.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Betty, of Dubuque; his son Bill (Melissa) Wohlers, of Dubuque; his daughter Annette Wohlers, of Dubuque; his grandchildren, Stephanie (Greg) McDaniel of Grimes, IA, Drake Nie, Caiden Wohlers, and Brennen Wohlers, all of Dubuque; two great grandchildren, Mikayla and Elijah McDaniel, both of Grimes; his siblings, Don (Bev) Wohlers of Dubuque, Dale (Rita) Wohlers of Galena, IL, and Judi (Mike) Devine of DeWitt, IA; and his sisters-in-law, Karin Jandt and Janis Jensen, both of Sparta, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Ralph Wohlers Jr.; his sister Lynda Soenksen; two sisters-in-law Janet and Karen Wohlers; and two brothers-in-law Dugan Jensen and Ralph Jandt.

Memorials may be made to the family for later donation to Wayne’s favorite charities.

Jeanne L. Kieffer

Jeanne L. Kieffer, 87, of Dubuque, died Sunday, December 27th, 2020, at Ennoble Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Private family services were held Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Jeanne was born in 1933, daughter of Clarence and Grace (Trude) Dirksen of Dubuque, Iowa. She resided in Dubuque all her life. She attended St. Anthony grade school and was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy. She was a member of St. Anthony Parish and Rosary Society, as well as the St. Jude Circle.

Jeanne was a stenographer at John Deere Dubuque Works in the 1950’s where she met Merle, and they were married in 1957. She served as a volunteer for many years at MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center alongside her niece, Linda Wiskus, and enjoyed walking the halls seeing people she knew while delivering flowers and gifts. Jeanne had many close friends and enjoyed participating in card club and riding bikes. Jeanne was a loving and caring mother to her three sons. The highlight of her summers was when her grandchildren would stay with her for a week of fun which included swimming at the water park and miniature golfing.

Jeanne is survived by her children, Tom (Marty) Kieffer, Bob (Kathy) Kieffer, and Mike Kieffer; Four grandchildren, Ryan Kieffer, Allison (Drew) Combs, Abbie (Brendan) Howe, and Alyssa Kieffer; four great grandchildren, Evelyn, Audrey, and Caroline Combs, and Chase Howe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Merle Kieffer; sisters, Betty Stanley and Lorrayne Oswald; and her brother, Clarence Dirksen Jr.
