Kalissa K. Reeder

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Kalissa Kay Reeder, age 38, announce her sudden passing. Kalissa was born on March 3rd, 1987, in Dubuque Iowa and passed away on June 12th, 2025. She worked at The Five Flags Center and volunteered a great deal of time to promote local music.

From a young age, Kalissa had a heart of nurturing and caring for others. She was the oldest of eight children and was always eager to care for her younger siblings. She was homeschooled and graduated at the age of 16.  Her original dream was to become a doctor but after graduating high school she stated, ” I don’t want to be in school for years so I can help others; I want to do that now.”  Even as a child, she never hesitated to jump into any situation and offer assistance. This trait followed her into adulthood; most who knew her would say this defined who she was. She spent many years giving all she had to serve anyone she knew in a difficult situation. She was kind, compassionate and generous. Kalissa loved hiking, nature walks, star gazing and rock collecting. Wherever she went, she made it a point to find and take home rocks as a way to remember each place she had been. She had a fierce passion for music; a love she instilled deeply in her children. She is survived by three beautiful souls, Armond (17), Audrina (15) and Ambrose (13). Three lives forever changed and yet they will change the world. She leaves behind 7 siblings, Kaylee (Stin), Josiah (Ashley), Mya (J.R), Alicia (Dalton), Josh, Jesse (Sarah), as well as five ” bonus ” siblings.

Her siblings may live far from one another, across many states, but they are united in the pain of this loss and their love of a sister.

She will be deeply missed by her father Kreg Reeder, her mother Michelle (Steele) Croft, her stepfather Steven Croft, her grandmother Linda Reeder and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Together we mourn the years that will be missed with her many nieces and nephews.

The number of friends and family who are saddened by her passing are too numerous to list. There are far too many special people in her life to mention here. We know who you are, and we pray we have the opportunity to thank you all personally.  Zach, we are so sorry.

Our dear sweet young friend Addy, thank you for starting a beautiful memorial where she took her last breath and thank you all who have added to it. It has been a place of healing for many.  Thank you, Uncle Josh and Ben Johnson, for being present with us when we had to share this news with her children.

Kalissa is proceeded in death by her paternal grandfather and her maternal grandfather and grandmother.

The family would like to thank The Dubuque Police Department, The Dubuque Fire and Paramedics and the many people, unknown to us, that immediately ran to her side to render aid.

The family is incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love we have received thus far.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday July 26th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Church, 835 South Grandview Heights, Dubuque, IA.

Dianne M. Heim

Dianne Marie Heim, 84, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the church, officiated by the Very Rev. Brian M. Dellaert. The family will have a private entombment at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is assisting the family.

Dianne was born on August 18, 1940, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Mary (Koeff) Miller. She attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy in 1958. Later in life, she returned to school to complete her Iowa Real Estate education.

She married her high school sweetheart, Richard “Dick” Heim, on April 23, 1960. Together, they quickly began building a family and a life filled with love, laughter, and purpose. Dianne loved movies, dances, and playing card games like Bridge. She especially cherished the gatherings with her friends in their Poor Man’s Poker Club. An avid sports enthusiast, she enjoyed volleyball, tennis, and golf—and was proud to have scored a hole-in-one as a longtime member of Lacoma Golf Course.

Her Catholic faith was a guiding force in her life, which she shared generously with others. She was a proud cancer survivor and, along with Richard, served as a Franciscan Associate for many years. Dianne was a devoted stay-at-home mother until 1981, when she began a successful and fulfilling career in real estate. She loved being a realtor, always eager to learn and form meaningful friendships. She recently retired, from real estate, in January 2025.

Dianne was also passionate about service. She worked as an aide to children with disabilities at Franklin and Audubon Schools and volunteered for 25 years at the Shalom Retreat Center, where she was instrumental in the success of the Shalom Shenanigans fundraiser for ten years. She also volunteered at Stonehill Care Center, the Drug and Prison Court at the Archdiocesan Center, and rang bells annually for the Salvation Army. Her dedication to others was recognized in many ways. She was named Volunteer of the Year by the Archdiocesan Center and received a special award from the Governor of Iowa. She also served on multiple committees for the Board of Realtors and received several awards for her contributions. The Sertoma Club honored her with its “Service to Mankind” Award, recognizing her tireless efforts in support of the Children’s Miracle Network and other causes. As one admirer once said, “If Dianne quit volunteering today, she would still have put in more hours doing so than anyone.” In honor of her legacy of service, her children established the “Dick and Dianne Community Service Scholarship” at Clarke University.

Of all the honors she received in her life, Dianne’s greatest joy and pride were her five children. She loved them with all her heart and treasured every moment with them. Holidays were especially meaningful to her, full of warmth, laughter, and family traditions. Dianne had a sharp wit and a wonderful sense of humor that she passed on to those around her. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many.

Dianne is survived by her husband of 65 years, Richard “Dick” Heim; their children: Rich (Anne) Heim, David (Theresa) Heim, Michelle (Dean) Shanahan, Tim (Barb) Heim, and Bob (Jennifer) Heim; grandchildren: Christine (Jake), Emily (Bob), Michael (Erin), Meredith (Matt); Erin (Kevin), Andrew (Emily), Derek (Nicole), Nicole (Jared), Alison (Brian); Spencer (Kelly), Logan (Samantha); Jacob (Giovanna), and Alec; and great-grandchildren: Cooper, Rylee, Caleb; Connor, Charlotte, Claire, Odette, Ensley; Collins, Brooks, Kairi, Carter, Bryson, Braxton; Luke.

Together, she farmed with her husband while raising four beautiful children. She was the heart of their home and the soul of the family farm; she milked cows, fed calves, and handled everything in between to help the farm thrive, all without a single complaint. As her children got older, she began a house cleaning business, continuing her lifelong commitment to serving others. The family and growth of the farm would not be where they are today without her drive, sacrifice and love.

She found deep joy in the simple things. Her flowers were a source of beauty and joy, and in the summer months, her home bloomed like an arboretum. She spent countless hours cooking meals for others and baking with love. Whether she was preparing dinner for farmhands, dropping off food to someone going through a hard time, or baking desserts “just because,” the kitchen was where her heart shined brightest. Judy never hesitated to help anyone in need-no matter how busy her own life was.

Her true gift was her boundless love and selflessness. She was a dedicated wife, loving daughter, and deeply caring mother. Judy cared for her parents so they could remain in their home. She cherished her role as a Grandma, making countless memories and cheering them on in all their activities. She found pure joy in being with them, and her presence will forever be one of their most treasured gifts.

Judy’s legacy is one of unwavering devotion, endless giving, and a heart that made room for everyone. Her kindness, generosity, and quiet strength were felt by all who knew her. She leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories and a family forever grateful for her love. She will forever be missed.

Judy was preceded in death by her grandparents; her father-in-law, Merlin Brimeyer; one niece, Emily Schroeder; and one great-niece, Maleigha Nauman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Judy’s name to the Sherrill Fire Department.
