The treated water is distributed through more than 330 miles of water mains, that are controlled by 8,008 control valves. The City’s water supply is available to 2,606 fire hydrants and to more than 23,880 service connections.

“The quality of water we are able to provide to Dubuque residents is a great source of pride for our Water Department staff,” said City of Dubuque Water Department Director Chris Lester. “We continue to strive to provide safe and reliable drinking water to the community at an affordable cost.”

When compared to the other large cities in Iowa that soften their drinking water, Dubuque has the second-lowest rate, which translates to $23.17 per month for the average household.
