Alan was born on August 27, 1988 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Mike and Joan (Welter) Turnis.  He was a  2007 graduate of Cascade High School in Cascade, Iowa.  On June 11, 2022, he was united in marriage to Olivia Lamphere on the family farm in Bernard, Iowa.

Alan was known as “Squeak” to most people. He had a passion for farming and loved continuing the family farming operation with his brother David. He was a terrific mechanic and could fix anything. He enjoyed making “service calls” in one of his many tool vans over the years to help people out. He was quick to help his mother or any friend or stranger in need, but his response time wasn’t always as quick for his wife or brother’s requests. He loved animals, especially his dogs who often got to ride along with him. He loved fishing, old country music, and a cold Busch Light. He loved children and treated his nieces, nephew, and friends’ children as his own. He made friends easily and could BS with anyone he met.

He was on the Three Rivers FS Board of Directors and was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Fillmore, Iowa.
