Albert R. Oberfoell

Albert R. “Dick” Oberfoell, 91, of Remer, MN and Epworth, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the Veteran’s home in St. Cloud, MN.

Friends and relatives of Dick may call from 9:30 a.m. un til time of services, Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the Epworth United Methodist Church in Epworth, Iowa. Services will be held at 11;00 a.m.at the church with Pastor Stephanie Schlimm Presiding. Burial will be held in Highview Cemetery in Epworth, Iowa. The Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth is in charge of arrangements.

He was born June 30, 1927 in Epworth, Iowa, son of Bert and Lula (Story) Oberfoell. On September 5, 1953 he was united in marriage to Velma Mae Clapham at the Epworth United Methodist Church in Epworth, Iowa. She preceded him in death on November 7, 2004.

He was employed with the North Central experimental Station as grounds and maintenance worker, with the State of Minnesota until his retirement in 1993. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, camping, and being with his family making memories.

He was an Army Veteran having served from 1945-1947. He was a member of the Boy River log Chapel in Boy River, MN.

He is survived by four children, Robert (Jean) Oberfoell of Ashton, SD, Kathy Mahaffey and Grand Rapids, MN, Beverly (Vance) Haight of Adams, WI, and Kristi (Dean) Jacobs of Remer, MN; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Barbara Clapham of Dubuque, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ronald Oberfoell and infant daugthter, Sharon Oberfoell, a brother, Walt Oberfoell and a sister, Mabel Stocks.
