Christine M. Sadler, age 68, of East Dubuque, IL, completed her earthly journey on September 2, 2026, at Stonehill Care Center while surrounded by her loving family.  Per Christine’s wishes, there will be no formal services held.  To honor Christine’s life, her family request that you share a beautiful memory of her with others and allow her legacy to continue on within the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved her.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Christine’s family.

Christine was born on August 30, 1958, in Dubuque, IA, the second oldest of five children to Fred and Marie (Welter) Motsch.  She intrinsically developed a love for family, friends and serving others which she faithfully carried throughout her 68 years among us.  She grew up in Dubuque and graduated with honors from Hempstead High School in the class of ’76 ready to take on the world and leave her positive imprint wherever possible.

She eventually met the love of her life, Merlin Sadler, and the couple were united in marriage on March 5, 1987.  Their union was blessed with three children of their own to love and nurture along the way as they built their life together in East Dubuque.  Christine was a loving wife and mother in the truest sense of the words and their over 40 years of marriage was a living testament of how wonderful life can be when you find the exact person the Lord created just for you and face each day hand in hand with the goals of love, honor and respect as your foundation.

Christine did spend over 26 years working outside of the home and surely left her mark on each opportunity she embraced.  She was a bakery clerk at the Hy-Vee in Asbury for over 6 years which fell seamlessly into her enjoyment of sharing food with other, especially treats and only if everyone enjoyed pumpkin spice as much as she did, it likely would have been her dream job straight into retirement.  She also spent over 20 years working in the housekeeping departments at both Stonehill and Bethany Home.  She valued the chance to help others and made countless relationships with the residents who were entrusted to her care.  Christine’s heart was often focused on what she could do for others and never did she take that mission lightly.  She finally moved into retirement in the December of 2022 and effortlessly focused her energies on spending quality time with her adoring husband through the years that they would have left together.  Whether he was helping her work on her most current “Garage Sale Queen” route for the upcoming weekend, assisting her in her latest acquisitions to add to her spilled foods or glass knick-knacks collection, or simply grabbing their comfy seats in the living room while watching their favorite shows or funny videos; as long as treats were close by, a cold diet dew was in hand and they were in close proximity, life was perfect.

We are going to miss Christine, her kind and gentle spirit, along with her love and devotion to family which clearly knew no bounds.  The world is undeniably a lesser place today, but thankfully all of the love and lessons she leaves behind can live on vividly within the lives of everyone she touched during her time with us.  Thank you, Christine, for leading by example, loving without expecting anything in return and reminding us that knowing when it is time to work and when it is time to rest are important parts to a successful and joyful life.  May the Lord bless and keep you safe in His loving arms until we all meet again.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers, Dennis Motsch and Tom Motsch; and her sister, Kelly Marshall.

Christine’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Stonehill Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque for all of their professional and compassionate care.
