Darrell Jones

Darrell Jones, 84, of Dubuque, passed away April 16, 2024 at Oak Park Place.

Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 21, 2024 at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road, Dubuque, where there will be a parish scripture wake service at 3:00p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00a.m., Monday, April 22, 2024 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Rev. Dennis Quint officiating. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Mineral Point, WI.

Darrell was born on September 6, 1939, to Wendell and Mary (Bride) Jones in Ellenboro Township, Wisconsin.

He attended Peniel School, a one room schoolhouse in Rewey, WI as a child.

Darrell graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1957, where he earned the nickname “Fireball.”

Darrell enlisted in the United States Navy on August 14, 1957 and honorably served our country for three years while stationed in California.

He was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Duccini on February 8, 1964 and they had three wonderful children together. They shared several years together in California before moving to Dubuque.

He was a truck driver for many years, working for Ruan Trucking, and Standard Forwarding. After retiring, Darrell was an usher at the hockey rink for many years-a job he truly enjoyed!

Darrell loved dancing, listening to live music, motorcycle riding, and travelling to Las Vegas. He was very proud of his motorcycles.

He cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Darrell is survived by his children, Tammy (Gary) Van Cleve of Asbury, IA, Kimberly (William Siebecker) Jones of Port Wing, WI, and Ken Jones of Chippewa Falls, WI; grandchildren, Nick (Jennifer) Jones, Genevieve (Christopher) Sorensen, Casey (Calli) Van Cleve, and Luke (Kennedy) Van Cleve; great-grandchildren, Amelia, Isla, and Oliver Jones, Hailey Van Cleve, Emma Sorensen, Rylan, and Clara Van Cleve; sisters, JoAn (Ed) Blaine, and Joyce (Tom) White; and brother-in-law, Kevin Krupke.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Dale and Dean Jones, and Jackie Krupke.

A Darrell Jones Memorial Fund has been established.

Darrell’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Cao, Oak Park Place, and St Croix Hospice, especially Alyssa, Jackie, and Mitchell for the wonderful care given to Darrell. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
