Elizabeth A. Wegmann

Elizabeth Anne (Scott) Wegmann, 95, of Bloomington, Wisconsin, passed away on June 24, 2025, surrounded by her family at Lancaster Health Services.

Elizabeth was born on July 20, 1929, on Blake’s Prairie, daughter of Wilbur and Margaret (Thornton) Scott, in the house her great-grandfather built. On September 30, 1948, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Joseph Wegmann at St. Mary’s Church in Bloomington, Wisconsin. They farmed on the Wegmann farm in Bloomington Township, where they raised their four children until retiring to Bloomington in 1984.

Elizabeth was most interested in history and had been a contributor in writing the History of Blake’s Prairie in Bloomington Township, for the Grant County Bicentennial Book (1976).  She had been a member of the Blake’s Prairie Farm Women’s Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed people, and all family members and friends were dear to her heart.  Elizabeth enjoyed all card games. The 500 neighborhood card clubs and especially the bridge clubs were her favorite.

Survivors include three sons; Dr. Philip (Mary) Wegmann, Lancaster, John (Donna) Wegmann, Cannon Falls, MN, Paul (Maria) Wegmann, Bloomington, daughter; Barbara (John) Scott, Dubuque, IA, and sister; Alice (Dale) Vogel, Fennimore. Elizabeth also leaves behind the legacy of a dozen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, and husband Joseph, Elizabeth was preceded in death by two infant sisters, and two brothers: Bradford (Margie) Scott, and Gordon (Violet) Scott. Many friends and family have also preceded Elizabeth in death.  But they lived on in her heart and memories.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025. A Rosary for her soul will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass, with a luncheon to follow the Mass in the church basement. Burial will be at the Lumpkin-Union Cemetery, on Blake’s Prairie, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Bloomington, on Sunday, June 29, 2025.

Special thanks to St. Croix Hospice and Lancaster Health Services, for the compassionate care they gave to our Mother. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, Dubuque, IA is assisting the family.
