Jane L. Tornblom
Jane L. Tornblom, 92, of Dubuque, died Friday, May 31, 2024, at the Luther Manor in Dubuque.
A prayer service will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory followed by visitation until 7:00 pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Jane will be 10:30 am Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Steven Rosonke as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque.
Jane was born June 17, 1931, in La Crosse, WI, the daughter of Albert and Tillie (Arlt) Klein. On June 24, 1950, she married Alvin R. Tornblom in Holy Trinity Catholic Church in La Crosse, WI. He died April 11, 2005.
Jane worked in the floral department and as a food demonstrator at Hy-Vee, where she was affectionately known as Mrs. Claus.
She was a devoted member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and participated in Catholic Charities’ Unwed Mothers Program. She was also involved with the Boy Scouts of America through the Tiger Cub program in Dubuque. In 1999, she was honored as Iowan of the Day in Des Moines. She was an active member of the Red Hat Club, also known as Nifty Over Fifty, and served on the Dubuque County Fair Board.
Survivors include one daughter, Deb (Tim) Brandel of Asbury; one son, James (Nancy) Tornblom of Ely; six grandchildren, Keith (Tina) Brandel, Kevin (Carrie) Brandel, Kari (Craig) Coble, Kelsey (Scott) Tauke, Elizabeth Tornblom, Rachel Tornblom; ten great-grandchildren, Remington, J.T., Tyler, Emily, Maggie, Ali, Lindsay, Bennett, Charlie, Alynne; two great-great-grandchildren, Ivory and Bridger; and two sisters, Carol (Charles) Wuensch of La Crosse, WI, and Mickey (Joe) Wilder of Florida.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one great-grandson, Griffin Tauke, and one brother, Albert Klein, Jr.
Jane’s family extends their gratitude to the staff at Luther Manor for their exceptional care over the past few years, the staff of Hospice of Dubuque for their compassionate support, and to Mom’s angel, Sasha.
