Kathleen (Katie) M. Noel, 94 of Dubuque, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024 at Bethany Homes. She had been a resident of Bethany Nursing home since 2023 following the death of her husband Carl (Andy) Noel of nearly 72 years.

In keeping with her wishes, a short visitation will be held from 8:45a.m.-9:45a.m., Friday, May 31, 2024 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Steve Garner officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Katie was born in Dubuque on September 3, 1929, daughter of Charles (Chick) and Kathryn (Brennan) Palmer. In 1951, she married the love of her life, Carl (Andy) Noel who passed away in 2023. They were married for almost 72 years!

Katie worked for the Dubuque Packing company which then became FDL Foods and finally Hormel Foods in the office until her retirement in 1996.  Katie was all about family. She sacrificed by working evenings and overnights to ensure all her kids had a parent around day and night.

Katie will be remembered for her love of the slot machines. She would spend hours having the time of her life playing right to the end. Her favorite game was My Konami.  In recent years with less ability to go to the dog track or the boat to play the slots, she loved playing the slots on her iPads. She had three iPads for all her games. She also loved cooking, cleaning (if there was a spot on a window, she would find it) and spending time with the grandchildren.  Her nickname by her grandchildren was grandma black hair. She was a devoted part of Holy Ghost parish.

She is survived by her children, Tom (Kathy) Noel of Dubuque, Janice (Tom) Dierickx of Mendenhall, MS, Jim (Melissa) Noel of Miamisburg, OH; nine grandchildren, Joe, Nick, Jake, Anthony, Phillip, Alaina, Jenny, Megan and David; nine great grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her youngest sister, Isabelle (Izzy) Hutter, of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carl (Andy) of nearly 72 years in 2023, her parents, her oldest son Bruce Noel and her brothers Carl, Merlin, and Don (Ding), and her sisters Helen, Mary, Harriet.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bethany Nursing home in Dubuque along with Hospice of Dubuque for their compassionate care throughout 2023 and 2024. The family would also like to thank the doctors, nurses, staff of UnityPoint Health – Finley Hospital for all their compassionate care over the past year.

In-lieu of flowers, the family asks for any donations to be given to Holy Spirit – Holy Ghost Catholic Church in her name.
