LaVonne Kerth
LaVonne “Bonnie” Kerth, 95, of Dubuque, died Saturday, May 16, 2026.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 10:15 am Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Holy Spirit Parish – Holy Ghost Catholic Church.
The Mass of Christian Burial for LaVonne will be 10:30 am Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Holy Spirit Parish – Holy Ghost Catholic Church with Father Raymond Burkle as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque.
LaVonne was born on August 20, 1930, in Waukon, IA, the daughter of Hugh and Theresa (Griffin) Regan. She was united in marriage to Russell Kerth on July 26, 1952 in Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dubuque. They spent 50 wonderful years together before he preceded her in death on April 26, 2003.
LaVonne moved to Dubuque at an early age with her family from Waukon, Iowa. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Dubuque in 1949. She worked for 11 years at the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing prior to her career with the Department of Social Services from which she retired in 1993.
She met her husband, Russell, at Melody Mill and together they enjoyed many years of dancing at Melody Mill and the fairgrounds.
LaVonne was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church for many years where she volunteered her time singing in the funeral choir, the Rosary Society, and helped with funeral dinners. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters and was a Sisters of the Presentation Associate. LaVonne enjoyed dancing, card playing, music, family vacations, exercising, but most of all being with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her two daughters, Peggy (Kerth) Baker of Mason City, IA, and Jackie (Kerth) and her husband, Neal Levine of Schaumburg, IL; four grandchildren, Russell (Kayla) Baker, Emily (Robert) Schwandt, Sara (Jacob) Schnulle, and Megan Levine.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Evelyn; and her siblings, Marcella, Lawrence, Paul, Frank, Raymond, and Rita.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to her niece, Donna, and caregiver, Amanda, for their support and care.
