Rodney J. Furrow
Rodney J. Furrow, 58, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.
Rodney Joe Furrow was born on April 20, 1965 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Roger and Donna (Carstensen) Furrow. Most of his early education was in the Quad Cities and he graduated from Grinnell High School. Following high school, he first worked for a hog farm in Grinnell for two years, and then raised Harness Horses for four years at the Quad City Downs. He then moved to Preston, Iowa where he worked for Preston Meats and then for Maquoketa Livestock Sale Barn for five years. Following a move to Cedar Rapids where he worked construction, he returned home and worked for Steve Trenkamp for several years. Lastly, he worked for Cornelius Land and Cattle for 28 years.
He married Julie Trenkamp in 1994 in Preston, Iowa. Three daughters were born to this union, Jeannie, Amber, and Keri.
Rod always loved listening to country music or old classic rock. He rode horses and hunted coyote and deer. He always enjoyed helping with the Jackson County Rodeo, spending time out in the country, and most importantly he loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He would take them on 4-wheeler rides, truck rides and just sitting around and playing with them.
Those left to honor his memory include children, Jeannie Furrow of Lost Nation, IA, Amber Furrow of Clinton, IA, and Keri Lovell of Bellevue, IA; his father, Roger Furrow of Davenport, IA; a brother, Allen (Lori) Furrow of Davenport, IA; sister, Kathy (Chris) Myers of Graettinger, IA; 7 grandchildren; and his special family, Rebecca Miller, Hope Glaser, Sabrie Gregory, Allie Cooke, Kylee Stanton, Carlie Stanton, Rylee Flemming, Hailey Foreman, Alex Eye, and Maddi Tempel, Wyatt Glaser. He was preceded in death by his mother Donna Furrow.
A gathering of family and friends celebrating his life will be held from 11 A.M to 2 P.M., Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the Timber Center in Maquoketa. Cremation rites have been accorded.
